Need help with symptoms

Hi there. On At the very beginning of March i slept with a prostitute, it was a drunken mistake, and probably one of the worst mistakes of my life. The very next day i had a tingling irritation in my urinary tract. This went on for a few days, and seemed to be gradually getting more irritated. I took doxycycline for about a week, self presicribed from a friend. This seemed to make it go away. Then roughly a month and a bit later it came back. This time it brought with it pains in my testicles, and what felt like my bladder, for 3 days, i lost my appetite slightly, was very tired, and felt i think memory problems. Again i took some doxycycline, which again helped it go away. It is now 3.5 months later. And im experiencing appetite loss, have had diarrhea for about 2 weeks. I Am often tired, and fatigued in my muscles. The memory thing still feels present. I have slight gland annoyance in my neck and armpit, which has been there for about 3-4 weeks. I feel nautious sometimes aswell, only mildly though. Im so scared that it might be HIV? I havnt had any fevers or rash however. I am literally the scaredest ive ever been.

Sometimes a certain medication may not work for whatever reason. There are others though. I would see a Dr. and mention that you have tried doxycycline twice and it was unsuccessful. Though I would mention you did not see a Dr. for this since if you do have a problem you could of got a wrong amount. Either to less or too much. Sometimes too much of a good thing is bad and can lead to other symptoms.

The symptoms you mention at the end are symptoms of HIV. People that do have HIV that show symptoms usually show one week to a month after being infected. Though this is not always for everyone.

I've been in your show about being scared with and STD. Getting tested is the only thing that can help you. While I was told everything was negative, it was the biggest relief of my life. In some places you can get HIV results in 20 minutes. If you do test positive, they will test you again to make sure. HIV results are always given in person so you can figure out what course of action to take. For other STD's, results can take a week to two weeks. Every place is different. Check your county health department for free testing and make a Dr. appointment because if you do get negative results, you have to figure out what is causing your problem.

PS. Make sure you are not on any meds when you go for testing and make sure you go with a full bladder.

Best of luck to you.

I'm sorry you are so afraid, but this doesn't sound at all like HIV.  While the fatigue, etc., can be symptoms of early HIV, its gone on far too long for it to be that.

The rest of it - the pain, irritation, etc., suggests something else, and you need to stop self treating and be seen.  It could be an infection in your urethra, your prostate, etc., and doxy might not be the best antibiotic for you.
