Persistant Urethritis.

The Situation:
About 4 months ago i had PROTECTED (w/condom) oral and brief vaginal with a CSW. Immediately (about 15 min later) i started having a faint burning in urethra. I passed it off as it being vigorous activity and thought it would go away by morning. Next morning burning persisted. Burning not responsive with urination or ejaculation...just and off and on urethral burning. (No warts, blisters lesions) Longest period the pain has subsided has been about 10 days. Recently had sex with spouse and irrtation has returned.

TESTING:
-5 days post encounter chlamydia and gonnorhea negative (urine culture also revealed i had hematuria) leukocytes and nitrites normal
-7 weeks post encounter chlamydia, gonnorhea, (urine culture) hsv1, hsv2, hiv, (igm antibody) all negative
-about 10 weeks post encounter: pelvic CT scan to check cause hematuria All normal from kidneys to prostate (no inflammation stones, cysts etc)
-15 weeks AZO UTI test strip revealed positive leukocytes and negative nitrites. (Purchased strips because of persistant urethral discomfort.

At this point im stumped. Im still positive i have an STI however sometimes im in denial and think nothing is wrong since i used a condom and earlier tests are negative.  Only thing i can pinpoint is trich but im not sure. As of now im waiting for another trip to the urologist (a month away) and it looks like experts arent accepting any new posts at this time. Any advice out there?

P.S. Spouse had pap smear about 2 months after encounter, came back with HPV. (No other STD symptoms for her) Not sure if this is the cause? Or if a pap would detect anything other than an HPV. Thanks in advance!

Hi you did not get herpes inside your penis. First time outbreaks occur at point of contact like your pubic mound area.

**UPDATE 2**
I have been prescribed Valtrex and after ONE pill the effects of the urethitis have subsided significatly. Im now on the second pill of Valtrex and the symptoms are just about gone. So due to process of elimination i can conclude i have urethritis due to HSV1..(or possibly 2) Im not sure. This is a pretty horrifying discovery. I guess more psychological more than anything.

There was some teasing of the lower shaft and scrotum before the condom was put on so that has to be the only explanation. Thing is i have no sores or lesions in those areas...nor any externa lesions/ blisters, etc. I will have to go get tested for sure and possibly post more updates on the herpes forum..again any new info is helpful.

**UPDATE 1**
Went to clinic again today to do a urinalysis. The urinalysis returned with "no infection present" The Dr. Is going towards my urethritis being caused by HSV1 and prescribed me Valtrex. I have been HSV1 positive since childhood (cold sores). The most recent test that i took was hsv1 IGG >5.00 and IGG <0.90 for hsv2 at 7 weeks post symptoms.
   My questions would be:
1. If this is Herpetic Urethral HSV is it just a coincidence these flareups showed up after this protected encounter?
2. Ive read on these threads that herpetic urethritis hurts like hell while urinating. Just want a little more insight on the symptoms of herpes caused by HSV.
- again no lesions, bumps, meatus is irritated and intermittent urethral pain/burning.

I will finish this 10 day course of Valtrex see if the hematuria along with other symptoms disappear. I appreciate all feedback in advance.

I am having the exact same problem. Had sex for the first time on Sunday (unprotected, girl said she is clean), got tested Wednesday, am waiting on results. I really hope I don't have an STI. But if not, then I'm not sure what it could be. If it's nothing that is contagious or threatening then I may just have to live with it if it goes away.

Like you said, it's a slight burning, no warts, no bumps, no itching, no discharge... I'm worrried
