Pink eye.

So I received unprotected oral sex and protected sex about 9 days ago and I have no symptoms until this morning when I had woken up to pink eye. I didn't think anything of it and went to the doctor to get medication but after googling around I learned that pink eye is also a symptom of std's. So my question is how long after sexual contract would I contract pink eye of it is from an std? I have no other symptoms either. No discharge or pain when peeing. I also have not been in contct with any children where people would normally contract pink eye. Am I too worried about this or is this thing something I need to be concerned about?

Except Herpes and maybe adenovirus. But adenovirus would be like a cold.

Would I be at risk for NGU from oral sex?

Thank you for all of your input. I appreciate it.

The most common causes of NGU are Mycoplasma genitalium, Trichomonas vaginalis (men get this too despite its name), Ureaplasma urealyticum, Haemophilus vaginalis (don't know if men get this too) I assume so, Herpes are in this category and adenovirus. The way to test for this is a PCR based test.

Also I should add that I'm a male, I'm not sure why my profile has me listed as a female.

Can you get NGU and not contract gonorrhea or chlamydia?

Alan74,
I have written to Dr. Hook because the CDC contradicts his answer. So, I would like to see who is right the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or Dr. Hook on MedHelp? I wonder if he will answer?

That is a real good sign. Really you mostly get it from genital STD's. Also, though genital Chlamydia is often asymptomatic. I was looking up the time frame right now and it can take weeks to feel symptoms because it is slow growing. But you used protection. So, I think you are ok on both fronts. FYI, the other way Chlamydia is passed to the eyes is through child birth. So if they know the person has C. trachomatis they will treat the person and/or the baby's eyes when it is born. Yes Children can transmit it if they have it in their eyes, noses. But the U.S. doesn't really have it theoretically.

Yes that helps. My eyes are already pretty much cleared up and I just received the anti biotics today. They aren't itchy or anything like they were earlier when I started the drops.

Thank you for your quick reply. I didn't even remotely think that it could've been from a std or else I would've asked the doctor right away and he only asked me I was near children. I don't weird timing of things and this is one of them but I don't have any issues with my genitals so this makes me feel better.

It may just be pink eye. But you can get conjunctivitis if you have Chlamydia trachomatis (CT). You usually get conjunctivitis if you got it by touching your eye. So you need to see if you have that genitally then they can treat you with the right medication. Otherwise, they may give you antibiotics for the pinkeye that won't work. So you get tested for GC and CT (they test them together). Generally, it is more common to get it from genitally to the eye than from oral to the eye so I doubt you have it. Since you had protected sex I doubt you got it genitally though it isn't impossible. I guess you could get tested just to be sure. It takes a few days to contract pink eye after exposure. So it depends on the day that you would have touched yourself and stuck your finger in your eye not necessarily counting from the day you had sex. I doubt that it is from your encounter since the sex was protected and it is not likely to get pink eye from oral sex. At this point I would wait a few days to see if the antibiotic they gave you works on the pink eye. If it doesn't start work then you can think about getting tested but continue to take the eye drops as long as they say until they are done. You don't want to stop those. Hope this helps. Let me know if I explained this well enough.
