Tonsillitis from Oral Sex?

I wasn't sure where to post so this seemed like a good place.

I developed a weird feeling in my throat three days after oral sex with a female of unknown status.   After looking at my throat I saw my tonsils were a little inflamed and with a few white spots.on them.   I have no fever and no pain.  None of my lymph nodes in my neck appear swollen.  It just feels uncomfortable to drink water.   Eating feels ok though.

I'm seeing the doctor soon but should I bring up whether this might be an STD or does this sound like a run of the mill infection?

Thanks!

odds are this isn't a std going on. usually it's something viral or as spentshells mentioned, strep throat going on. Many infections are easily transmitted through kissing someone or even just breathing within 3 feet of them and it's far more likely it's a non-std related cause of your symptoms.

go to be seen today or tomorrow and get your throat swabbed for infections and go from there.

It is always best to be completely honest with your doctor. It never hurts to cover all your bases! As far as your throat goes, to me it sounds like the start of strep. While usually accompanied by swollan nodes and a fever, when I had strep I had neither, but the white spots and painful swallowing were there. Just an idea.
Like I said, be honest with your doctor, otherwise he/she isn't working with all possible information. I truely hope all goes well when you visit!! Good luck
