Rashes

Hi, I had an unprotected encounter with another male. I was the "top" in what I think (hope) was just some penis-to-anus frottage. This was about 8 weeks ago.

Since that time I have had some odd rashes. They come and go without rhyme or reason. They are mainly on my forearms (primarily on my left arm). They also appear on my wrist. They are hard to explain. Sometimes they are little red bumps. Sometimes they appear to be in a little bit of a circle. Other times I look at my forearm and it appears to have a tan rash, sometimes it's red, sometimes it appears to have circular lines.

I also sometimes have rashes on my knees, or slightly above them. These are typically very red and have red raised bumps.

I have not had any other symptoms, though I realize that symptoms don't really mean much. I have "thought" I've had a million symptoms, but they are usually rationalized.

Is this HIV/ARS? The rashes have probably been going on and off for 4-5 weeks now. Is it syphilis? I know that rashes are prominent in second stage syphilis.

Any tips, suggestions, or advice you can share would be appreciated.

Hi Grace, the doctOr looked at my rash and wasn't concerned. No signs of issues on genital area. Didn't seem overly concerned about one swollen lymph node under arm. Holding my breath for results

no reasno to think that these rashes are std related. certainly be seen - your mention of lines in the rashes means you need evaluated for scabies which is a common cause of rashes like that.

Thank you for your response. I never noticed a chancre, but I have read that sometimes it goes undetected. I have not seen anything on my palms or feet. I now have a red rash on my right arm toward the elbow. It is very red and there might be some little red dots along there somewhere else on my arm. I am getting very concerned that it is a maculopapular rash.

HIV questions post in the HIV forum.

As for syphilis, you would see the canker 1st and then the rash after that. Rash is mainly on feet and hands but on the arms.
