STD non sexual

My question is concerning syphilis, I went to a public bathroom the other day and I used it just after someone else, when I sat down I felt moist near my bikini line, but at the time I didn't think about it. After an hour or so when I got home I went and shaved my self there lightly. Would this be a way of transmission or would the virus have died?

Hi sorry again, just have one last question. If I use someone else's razor three minutes after someone, and what if there might have been some microscopic blood with syphilis and I shaved myself, I don't remember cutting myself, but would the micro abrasion be enough for syphilis in blood? Or would it have died already after three minutes?

Yes, they would die that quickly because they are THAT fragile.

Plus, when you say 'bikini line' that's a relatively large area we are talking about and its usually covered in THICK skin (Syphilis, if it managed to infect the body usually does so via think skin areas).

Besides, the bacteria actually has to PENETRATE the skin, and even then, there is no guarantee you would be infected because you do have an immune system for a reason and it can be exposed to many infections but not actually allow any to occur.

As I said, if you are that worried, go to your doctor and discuss the situation at length with her/him.
It seems you are agitated as it is and no amount of reassurance from the Internet can probably give you peace on that account - which is why I suggested you go visit your doctor and have a chat with him/her to see what they say.

Hi thanks for the answer, and yes I know stds don't survive well when exposed to air, but what if I went immediately after someone, so seconds after. Does it die that quickly?

Syphilis is not a virus. Its a bacteria.

There's a reason why STD's have that name... because they are transmitted exclusively through sexual contact.

Treponema Pallidum (bacteria which causes Syphilis) cannot survive outside the body at all.
It effectively gets destroyed in contact with the air - same with other bacterial STD's.

If you are still worried, you could go to your doctor (or have them forward you to a dermatologist) and explain your situation, but he or she will probably tell you the same thing.

A note when using public bathrooms/toilets: always use the toilet paper to clean up the seat.
Male public toilets for example are usually very dirty and can smell bad... so I usually clean up the seat before using it - preferably first with a wet toilet paper, then dry one,.
I personally don't sit on those public room toilets without putting toilet paper to cover the edges that my skin touches (and I'm a male).
