Red Irritation with maturbation or friction

Over the past year I have had progressively more redness during/after masturbation/ penile penetration to the point where it is no longer enjoyable.  I have to be very soft and use lotion to even masturbate.  In the past,  I have had a sensitive foreskin area with swelling.  My penis is circumcised, but only that part and the head area seem to get red/irritated.  There is some painful burning with the redness, but generally clears up in 1-5 days.  It seems as though it has only got worse and not any better.  The Doctor says it is most likely Dry penis and I should use petroleum jelly after I get a shower to keep the area from drying out.  Previously, I've tried this as well as Vitamin E oil, Triple Anti-biotic ointment, hydro cortisone 1% and lotion.  The petroleum jelly seems to help the area, but as soon as the friction occurs it happens all over again.  The penis doesn't seem to be dry from what I can tell.  I'm beginning to think my sex life is over and I'm only 31 years old.  I don't have any discharge, bumps, warts or any other signs of an STD from what I have red.  I've been tested for HIV and am negative.  Is there something I can do to heal the area and get back my sex life?  I'm starting to lose hope.   Please help!

you are definitely throwing too much at your delicate genital skin :(  No more topical steroids! no more lotions!  I wouldn't even use the vaseline even more to be honest.  for some folks even that is irritating to sensitive skin. antibiotic cream isn't made for the delicate genital skin either and some folks really have problems when they use it down there.

at this point, make sure you are using a good sex lube for sex and masturbation. I'd also look into getting tested for a latex allergy too just to err on the side of caution. avoid condoms with spermicides in them - buy unlubricated ones and use your own lube.  plenty of online resources to look for sex lubes that are condom safe and good for sensitive skin if the regular ones you can buy at any drug store aren't helping.

when you wash up in the shower, only use a mild soap like unscented dove on the genital area.

this certainly isn't a std related issue.  some of us are just more delicate than others and can't tolerate friction on the skin.

I'd follow up on that white area with a dermatologist to make sure it's not lichens.

what can be used on the face for wrinkles, can't be used on your delicate genital skin.

I completely quit using the hydrocortisone cream, triple antibiotic ointment, vitamin E oil/lotion and petroleum jelly on the area.  Interesting to know hydrocrtisone is becoming known as wrinkle reducer.   Thanks for you input.

That would make a lot of sense why it seems like the more I do the worse it gets.  Everything I am trying to do to help is only making it worse. Since the post I have done a little more thinking.  There is a ever so slight white color the skin on the back below the head.  About 2 years ago I had some pretty rough sex and it felt like I tore the skin from not using enough lubrication.  It never has seemed to fully heal from that.  It makes me wonder if there is yeast or some type of infection in the skin.   My Mother gets what seems like yeast infections all the time.  I've drove myself nuts trying to figure out what this could possibly be and it doesn't help that the Doctors have no answers.   I was on a medication for toe nail fungus once a week for a while, then another one for like 45 days then after that 3 different times anti-biotics because of 2 surgeries so it seems like it only got worse during that time.  My skin has always seemed more sensitive that others down there.  This situation is so complex it makes me head spin thinking about it.  Could I have candidiasis from all the anti-biotics I have taken?  I've had a little skin itching, irritation and mild burning (under arms, legs and arms) from time to time.  Today I started using the Clotrimazole to rule out yeast/fungus for 7 days just because it is about the only thing I haven't tried.  If there was no improvement then I was just going to leave the area alone completely.  Thought of possibly using a little baby powder....I'm even afraid to medication powder as it burns some when used before.  The more I think about it the more it seems like I just have sensitive skin or have some type skin allergy/allergic reaction.  When the area has friction it just gets worse.  Sure wish there was an easy answer to all of this.     Thanks for your input.

Hi and welcome, i will say one thing that if your using 1% hydro cortizone on your penis it is thinning the tissue, That what it does as a medication. This medicine is becoming known as the new wrinkle remover as thins the skin. Please stop using this on the big boys head!! ouch!
