STD from oral

I recently had unprotected oral from a new woman (stupid i know).  I'm now concerned with the possibility of getting an STD from this.  My research indicates that herpes, chlamydia, gonorhrea and NGU are the most common for men to get from oral.  It also seems that chlamydia and gonnorrea are very rare to get this way.  Any opinion would be helpful.  Also, how long do i have to wait to get tested for chlamydia, gonn & NGU?  I've read 7 days - is that long enough?  Thank you.

Grace - You are simply wonderful!!  Thank you so much for your continued counsel and patience.  You're right about the darn net - reading that you'd think that 50% of the people have oral HSV-2.  Just a ton of horror stories.

My initial dx was from a swab culture that wasnt typed.  I got the IGg blood test Monday and get my results tomorrow so I'll know one way or another.  I know the odds are in my favor, especially with HSV-2 oral infections and shedding being fairly rare, but I got stung the last time and "beat the odds" so that's why I'm so anxious.  Plus, having the OB 6 days post-encounter was just too coincidental for me.  I know I was initially stressed about other STD's but didnt think I was stressed enough to cause an OB.

Oh well, like I said I'll know tomorrow.  Thanks again and God bless.

if you've never pursued proper testing to know if your herpes is hsv1 or hsv2, you need to do so. what was your original testing that diagnosed you as having genital herpes?

really, it's silly of you to be thinking that you contracted a 2nd genital herpes infection from this.  only about 5% of all folks with genital herpes have them both genitally. it can happen but not likely to do so. when it does, it's usually hsv1 genitally initially and then contracted hsv2 genitally later on.  since less than 10% of folks who have hsv1 genitally get frequent recurrences, odds are that your former partner did have hsv2 and not hsv1 genitally.  don't add to your anxiety by obsessively reading inaccurate forums on herpes info and over thinking this all either dear - so not worth it!!

I apologize for my last comment.  I know it sounded snarky - I certainly didn't mean it to be.

Hi (again) Grace:  Well I think I made a terrible asumption about me being GHSV2 (vs GHSV1) positive based on my GF's recurrence rate.  Yes, she initially had recurrences every 6-8 weeks and then went on supressive therapy.  She's tried to get off daily therapy a few times but everytime she gets an OB within 2 weeks.  Based on this I just assumed it was HSV2, which I'm thinking was a big mistake.  I am reading (yes on the net again) a ton of stories (mostly from women) about frequent recurrences of GHSV1.  If that's the case, then I've opened myself up to getting GHSV@ on top of my HSV1.  Based on the symptoms (6 days post encounter and a new spot), I'm convinced I have a seond infection and it has to be HSV2.  I got an IGg done today and will have results in a few days.  Any words of advice/counsel/encouragement or am I just one terribly unlucky person?  Thanks.
