HPV

I was dx: with high risk HPV 14 years ago. I continue to test positive with normal paps.  Colposcopy negative and even had a LEEP procedure with negative results. Should I have a hysterectomy or continue with screening test

you can be infected for years and years with hpv before it causes any obvious cervical changes. your paps are all normal at this point so it's really not an issue for you. early detection of cervical cell changes are the most important part of preventing cervical cancer and you are doing that :)  You can be infected with high risk hpv for 20-30 years or more before it starts to cause obvious changes. have you looked at any of the hpv studies going on to see if any are near you to participate in?  www.clinicaltrials.gov

I totally agree with vance though, this is a question for you and your gyn. It's a very personal decision and is more than just the fact that you have high risk hpv. Talk to your gyn about what choices they recommend and come up with a plan based on you and your life.

best of luck!

That is not really a question we can answer here. It is better to discuss this with your Dr.
