STD??

Around 2 months ago I had unprotected sex with a girl, had no symptoms all this time, but just over a week after I had sex with her I was on a course of heavy antibiotics for h.ployri bacterial infection, so I was taking 2000mg of amoxicillin a day and 1500mg of clarithromycin (bactrim) for a course of 7 days.  The girl I had sex with contacted me yesterday to tell me she has been diagnosed with chlamydia.  If I did catch this first of all would this medication have cured me?

Also, I had urinalysis dipsticks in the house and tested myself to see if I had UTI symptoms caused by possible chlamydia (white blood cells in urine, nitrates, etc) and it was all clear. Does this mean I don't have it??

I'm getting tested on Wednesday, but I'm kinda freaking out right now and would appreciate your opinions :(

you are past the point where you would have anything showing up on an urine dip if you are infected.

The doctor states in this post:
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Conflicting-info/show/943625

that clarithromycin and amoxicillin will cure chlamydia, but there is so much conflicting info on the internet I don't know what to believe :( I just can't wait to get tested, I'm going crazy about it :(

Can you explain why I would have a normal urine dip if the bacteria are living in my uretha? wouldn't there be white blood cells in my urine to indicate infection?

This stuff all really confuses me. If it wasn't for the forum and your answers I don't know what I would do, it really is a life saver!

actually no those antibiotics are not effective for chlamydia. you should be pursuing proper std testing to cover your bases.   You know this partner had at least 1 std so cover all your bases with a full std screening since this was unprotected sex - chlamydia and gonorrhea and syphilis can be tested for now. You'll need to wait another month to cover your bases for herpes and hiv.

no, you  might not have an abnormal urine dip at this point if you were infected.

Thanks for your comment. I didn't medicate myself I was on medication for another bacterial infection!! Do you think the amoxicillin would have cleared the chlamydia up also? Also, if I had it there would definately be white blood cells or nitrates in my urine, right? cus after all it is a UTI...Am I correct to assume this?

yes, most likely you have taken care of it and your test will come back negative.  However, in the future, do not medicate yourself unless you get checked out first.  It may make it difficult to diagnose you in the future if you have antibiotics in your system.
