Should I test for gonorrhea?

Good afternoon. I explain my situation.

About two and a half years ago I had sex with a sex worker and I received oral sex from her. During the next weeks I payed my attention looking for any symptom of std, but everything was ok, no pain, no secretion...But because I was so worried a year later I tested for HIV, that obviously was negative, and my family doctor suggested to tested syphilis and hepatitis, with the same results, and he thought that wasn't necessary to test for chlamydia and gonorrhea because I hadn't symptoms of this infections. Even he considered that a pain that I experimented that days in the prostate area wasn't developed by that diseases. Fortunately, the pain disappeared soon, and it didn't came back.

Ok. From march my wife has the period more frequently, about two times a month. I had the mistake of checking in internet and I found that one of the reasons of this disorder is to get chlamydia or gonorrhea. Worries came back again. The gynecologist diagnosed an hormonal problem, because after the exploration he considered she was physically ok, and he prescribed something in that direction.

By the time, I tested for chlamydia, the "silent disease", was negative, and now I'm thinking about to test for gonorrhea.

The question is, after to know the symptoms, the time, the diagnosis of the gynecologist, do you think that I should to test for gonorrhea out am I worried in excess?

Thank you.

Hi.

Here, where I live (no USA), the test for gonorrhea in urine cost 145€, almost 200$, and you have the results two weeks later. Fortunately, the test with a swab is much cheaper, about 20€, almost 30$, and the results in 72 hours.

Is it effective the test with a swab even if you never had urethral secretion?

Take the test. They are very cheap at the clinic. I got an gnorheea test and chlymedia test done for 52 dollars. Just a simple urine test at planned parenthood. You call for the results they give you an ID card. No worries about coming in for the results. Stress free.

Well, I'm sure that finally I'll test for gonorrhea because if not, any symptom I had will make me crazy.

The reason I ask about that is that I suppose that I'm looking for any answer in the direction of "if you didn't had symptoms for so long time, don't worry, you are not infected" or "if no damage has been detected by the gynecologist during the scan exploration, no worries, after so long time gonorrhea activitiy appears clearly".

But well, probably any kind of answer different to "do the test" wouldn't be right enough.
