irritation will turn many things red.
the otc wart freezing systems should NEVER Be used on the genital area at home. they can cause scarring if not used properly.
Thank you for the comforting response grace.
I decided to put 17% salicylic acid on the bump for about 30-90 seconds. I did this about four times. The skin turned a dark purple and then pealed off. It appeared that the bump had fallen off; however, when the upper layer of skin healed the bump was back although it is not as red.
I saw a dermatologist today and was told it is a prominent sebaceous gland, or a fordyce spot. I was told there was no point to biopsy or worry about it. I guess it was a lot of worry for nothing. I was actually going to try to use an OTC wart freezing system if I couldn't get a doctors appointment today.
I am still baffled why it turned red in the first place. Perhaps it was a reaction to a condom or a bacterial infection.
herpes would not stay there constant for 6 months.
a dermatologist is the best course of action at this point. the odds of just one mc lesion being present after 6 months would be unusual - typically it spreads when untreated. also if it hasn't turned into a more warty looking wart at this point, it's not going to.
best of luck and stop back to let us know what they decided this was :)
