Strange Symptoms

Hi, I'm 20 yrs. old, female, and sexually active.
About a week ago I noticed that my discharge had a brownish tint. I figured it may have been spotting or something menstrual cycle related so i didnt think much of it. However, my boyfriend mentioned a few days later that there's been a strange smell from my discharge during sex. I suppose it's always there but he can just smell it more easily during sex. He says it is pretty strong and obviously unpleasant. Additionally it has been somewhat cottage cheese consistency. Only the discharge that is normal consistency is brown.
I thought maybe it was a yeast infection so I bought a one day yeast infection kit.
Since that (about a day and a half later) the brown discharge has stopped but the cottage cheese consistency has increased and the smell is still there.
Ive been seeing my current boyfriend for about 5 months now. I'm on birth control so we don't use condoms...
I read a bit online but theres really nothing that explains my symptoms that i can see. My best guess is maybe trichmonas...I really have no clue. I was hoping someone else might recognize the symptoms and be able to shed some light on my problem.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks

It can be a very serious concern for your health if its persistant... you must see a doctor at earliest...

If it was about your periods then it's quite normal, it's semi-dried blood that's residue from menstruation. You can have it at the start and end of a period (or both) and it's nothing to worry about. It's perfectly normal though some women experience more of it than others.
