Swollen Neck

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.  A week ago I have unprotected oral sex with a man.  He did not ejaculate in my mouth.  The very next morning I felt a "tightnes" in my upper neck.  The tightness has been persistent ever since.  I've looked in the mirror, but can not tell if anything is swollen.  If I had to give a yes or no answer to any swelling I would have to say yes.  I've read that early symptoms of HIV are swollen glands in the throat.  I want to get tested and find out if I have contracted HIV.  Do I have to wait 3 weeks or more to get accurate results t?  If I get tested tomorrow will I have to go back in a few weeks?  Other then the tightness in my throat I have been a little tired, but perhaps this is from anxiety.  Thank you again for your time.

HIV through Oral sex alone is very rare. Its possible for the person sucking but may require other factors such as bleeding gums, infections, or a high viral load.

However please do get tested, its always better safe than sorry. The fact that you may not have waited 3 weeks could results in a negative so normally you will be referred a second time. Best to consult a doctor and let them know of your fears so they may be able to relax and calm you down a little bit.
