Testing for STDs

Hi, I just went in for my annual exam and found out I had chlamydia and was treated, thankfully. I am worried as i had an abnormal test a few years ago where they thought that I could have gonnorea but when I was re-tested by a different doctor I was negative. I'm worried that the new doctor that tested me may not have tested me for stds and ony for hvp/cervical cancer and I have had it for years unknown. I was in a monogamous relationship up until recently and think I may have caught it after that ended when I slept with someone new, although now I'm scared! Do you think that the new doctor would have tested me for stds? Or do doctors sometimes skip this? I'm under 25 so I assumed they automatically just test people for this.

a pap test isn't a std test. it checks for abnormal cervical cells. you still still separate std testing to know your full status.  if they didn't also get urine and blood testing, you didn't have full std testing done!

Usually they ask you because it costs more (although insurance usually covers).  Swabs only test for HPV, gonorrhea, and chlamydia to my understanding. Herpes, syphilis, and HIV are all blood tests unless you have a lesion.  If I were you, I would call your doctor; they should have on file what you were tested for, when, and the results.  Pap smears and annual exams do not ensure that you've had STD testing.
