Unprotected oral 6 days ago. Need help or advice

Hi. I recently had unprotected oral sex and since then I have been experiencing a lot of stress and worry from STDs. I know I am at risk regardless of how low the actual risk is. The oral sex in question lasted no more than 5 minutes. Now I am starting to feel a mild burning sensation when urinating. I am scared its Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. But here is my dilemma, since I have been so scared I have been examining myself and a few nights ago I was sitting on the toilet examining my penis to make sure everything looked ok. I noticed what looked like maybe a little redness around the urethra opening. I also took toilet paper and dabbed around the area and looking at myself. So is there a possibility that this burning is from an STD? Or do you think I just screwed something up by dabbing myself with toilet paper and prodding myself? Also, since this incident happened about 6 days ago when should I get tested?

you are your own worse enemy about this.

most likely this is irritation from looking at things frequently or even a fungal infection going on.

Yeah I know. I have scheduled myself to get tested recently. as of late I have had kind of a tingling sensation in my penis. I really don't like that. I also found what I think were a couple small red bumps around the tip that I had not noticed before. I examined myself again today and the bumps were gone. But the tingly feeling is still there. I hope this is just the product of some really stress and not herpes. I'm going mad with this I swear.

these are not flu like symptoms of hiv.

receiving oral is not a real risk for hiv. you need to stop worrying needlessly!!!

Thanks for the words of comfort. I am still worried. I keep having thoughts of "What if these symptoms are the flu like symptoms of HIV?" But I don't have any swollen lymph nodes. Still have not been able to get tested. But still have headaches and there is so much build up in my throat that its so hard to talk, also I am starting to get night sweats. I just wish I knew what was going on.

really no reason to think this is a std. it is still very much cold and flu season and your symptoms do not sound like anything std related.

Oral sex is low risk and some experts consider it safe sex. Flu like symptoms are symptoms of the flu.
As Vance suggested, get some testing to stop your worrying. Other wise youll be posting here till the cows come home to roost! I think cows roost or is that chickens? Either way go get tested. Or post in the expert std forum and have a doctor reply but it believe there is a slight fee.

Thank you for your help. I am now experiencing flu like symptoms. My body is soar all over and it feels like there is something lodged in my throat. Its just that this is all happening about 10 days after the exposure so Its got me pretty spooked. And I have read a lot of STD's start with flu like symptoms. Thanks again.

a std would not travel from your penis up to your mouth area.

But I also have another question. Since I am a hetero male and I received oral from a woman is it possible that if it is chlamydia or gonorrhea that it could affect my throat? Or am I just overly paranoid?

Well thank you I appreciate that. But I also read that symptoms for gonorrhea and chlamydia can come and go. So that has me spooked. This throat ordeal is making it very difficult to swallow which I read something about that as well.

those are symptoms of a cold/upper respiratory infection, not a std.

call off the crotch watch, stop poking at the lil guy, drink plenty of fluids and get your rest :)  if you are no longer having any burning sensations genitally, really no reason for testing.

Ok so a little update: I have not been able to call to make arrangements for testing. But the burning feeling seemed to last about a day. Pretty stressed still and now I am getting a bad sore throat. Its like mucous is getting stuck in my throat but I have no runny nose. Is this a symptom?

See a Dr and get tested, think this is the only way that will get your anxiety down.

I agree with the comment above as the doctors have routinely stated that oral sex is low risk but the hidden danger is ngu which is often not tested for. There doesn't appear to be a good way to diagnose an ngu other than swab test and two plaes I've gone so far didn't do it. It has gotten to the point that I would rather have clamydia just so I know what I'm dealing with and how to treat it

Hi,

Most exposures don't lead to transmission, and most people don't have STD's. Hence, your general risk is low. However it is important to get tested. Chlamydia and Ghonorrhea can be detected generally 7-10 days after possible infection.

The good news is that even if you did get one or the other, they are curable with antibiotics and hence, will be very unlikely to affect your future health.

Hope these comments help.

I have similar experience. I was tested for clamydia and gonnorhea 7 days post exposure both negative. I have also been using Azo uti test strips to determine if I have an ngu. I haven't received confirmation on here regarding whether these strips work for testing ngu. However I read case study on Internet saying that they would pick up signs of infection.
