Treating male yeast infections

Is using over the counter clotrimazole a good solution to treating a male yeast infection?

I also have the prescription cream clotrimazole and betamethasone which seems to be a little more beefier.  Would this be a better option?

How long should I treat the area?

You sometimes need to use the creams 2 weeks past when all symptoms are gone to keep it from coming back.  You might also want to call your doctor - maybe you need a prescription.

I should also note it has been confirmed it was a yeast infection I am dealing with by my derm.

The OTC one clears it up but it seems to come back.  I am not doing anything to cause it to come back.  I am not having intercourse or nothing.

I am wondering if I need to go with a 7 day treatment of the more potent stuff and see how that goes.

If that is unsuccessful should I call my doc and get the oral drug to fix?

Oh the betamethasone is a steroid, and will help if you have some inflammation on the skin.

Either should work.  If you are finding that it doesn't, try getting one with miconazole in it.
