Unknown vaginal infection

i have had a problem with yellow discharge for years now. It first started when i had unprotected sex. So i assumed i had contracted an STI. However, my Dr has tested me for all STI's, yeast, etc and can not find a cause. All swabs and urine tests have come back normal. Except for a low growth of Group B strep. The discharge has a burning sensation, I have stomach pains, pain sometimes with sex, painful periods, excessive lubrication with sex.. There isnt a stong odor however. My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin, spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic. Dr said that if it went away on Augmentin then it must be bacterial - but why would he then prescribe a yeast medication (spandnox -sorry about spelling) - wouldnt augmentin make yeast worse? Has anyone has a similar situation and had success treating the infection?? What was it treated with successfully? Is it possible this is a problem related to Group B strep?? Im pretty desperate to find a solution..

no reason to think it's std related.

I have been tested for Garderella, UTI, trichomonas, yeast etc. All negative. That is the issue, cant find the cause but continue to have symptoms..(stomach pain, discharge, pain with sex, vaginal burning etc) Augmentin was the only antibiotic that seemed to work while i was on it but it immediately came back when off it. Being  treated with metronidazole should have cleared a BV or Trichomonas infection but it didnt work..

The reason i posted here is i was thinking it must be gonnorhea or clamydia (despite negative testing) -  basically the only thing i havent been treated for? But i have been tested 3 times now.. Does anyone know if a Dr is aloud to treat me for gonnorhea and clamydia even though i have had multiple negative tests? I am concerned that damage is being done to my reproductive organs.

Group B strep can be normal "flora" in the vagina but becomes a problem if you are pregnant for the newborn. Did they test you for Trichomonas? What about other organisms other than STD's? There are bacteria and a such as Garderella vaginalis, mobiluncus and so forth that can cause PID. It sounds like you may have one of those non specific urethritis. The Augmentin may have worked on one of these organisms. Augmentin doesn't always cause yeast but all antibiotics have the potential. Did they find yeast ?  It sounds like they don't know what the cause is and are giving you everything. If you don't have symptoms anymore I would say one of the meds cleared your problem. It could have been the metronidazole.

your std testing is all negative so this probably is not the best forum to post on. I'd follow up with the gyn/women's health forums instead.

have you gotten a 2nd opinion from a different gyn at all?
