What Do I Have?

Jan 30th received unprotected oral sex from a stranger. (I'm a male)

The following day I started to urethritis and just general pain in my groin, slight fever and chills.

Went to the clinic on Fed 1st (2 days later) They drew blood and took a urine sample, full STD pannel done (as I've never been tested). Dr. gave me one dose 500mg Suprax and 7 days 100mg doxycycline twice a day.

Everything came back negative...

I made an apt with a different Dr. Feb 6th as the pain hadn't subsided and spread to my testicles. I've had epididymitis before and that's what the Dr. decided I had. He really wasn't concerned about and STD risk from the unprotected oral.  Gave me 500mg ciprofloxacin twice daily for 10 days.

I called back today Feb 13th as I'm still having urethritis, groin pain, slight fever, chills, ocassional sharp pain in my groin, penis and testicles. My penis for 2 days was retracted like I had taken a cold bath for two days after exposure and three days this week. I haven't had an erection since my potential exposure. The swelling and epididymitis has subsided a fair amount but still there. They are doing an ultrasound on Feb 15th and follow up apt Feb 20th.

What do I have? Is this something related to my unprotected oral or just a coincidence?

Got a call back from the Dr. they can't test for Trich as they would have needed to do two swabs. They said if I was still concerned the urologist would be able to test at that time.

The swab wasn't a highlight of the day but that's how my urethra felt for two weeks after the unprotected oral encounter which is why i'm so concerned. I can't believe my mind could have cause these physical symptoms.

Man let me tell you sometime your mind is your worst enemy. I was in the same boat as you did something stupid, received unprotected oral and pretty much diagnosed myself with every STD there was.  I was convinced I had herpes and once I read about a symptom sure enough, I convinced myself I was feeling it.

In addition to this my testicles turned bright red and were burning. I was checking myself 10 times a day and freaked out about every little bump or blemish I was seeing on my penis. Well a trip to the ER for a physical exam and a full STD work up confirmed that as of right now I am STD free.

Guilt sucks my friend and when you feel guilty and stress, you can talk yourself into having every symptom you read about. I am convinced that my stress/guilt even caused my testicles to flare up. Im still coping and there are periods where I dwell on things and still fear STDs but things are getting better.

My suggestion is to stop researching your condition on the internet, practice relaxation techniques, deal with the guilt and move on. It will be tough, but take this oppurtunity to realize that one night of fun no matter how strong the urge is worth the misery it causes when your in a relationship.

Good Luck

these aren't herpes symptoms you are having either. most likely irritation  causing some bumps to look more obvious for you.

make sure you are also avoiding caffeine, spicy foods and alcohol for a few weeks to see if that helps with your pain too.

Swab test came back negative! They couldn't do the test for Trich...

Liz, Thank you again for your support. She knows I'm having issues with my genitals but clueless to the encounter. I have come to terms with my mistake and have learned how important my family is. I will never let anything jeopardize that EVER AGAIN! I  cherish each min with them, as I don't know how long I can hide this if I end up with a STD.

@CodeWhite I know how you feel, the internet can be a dangerous tool. I'm at 3 1/2 weeks now and the feelings of anxiety, stress, guilt, and remorse come and go. I really need to keep off of it and stop diagnosing myself and leave it up to the professionals.  Have you proceeded to have unprotected sex with your regular partner? or did you tell them about your encounter?

I have an apt with the Urologist on the 4th as I'm still having a burning sensation in my right thigh/groin and testicle. Urethritis has been more or less non existent just some discomfort from the swab.

Should I test for trich, HEP B, or syphilis at my next visit? 4 1/2 weeks post potential exposure? The GP seems so non nonchalant about my concerns of STD's but I need to have some closure soon than later.

I've developed an anal itch and my meatus is inflamed which is what is causing the wet discharge feeling. I've read these can be HSV symptoms. I'm so terrified about what I could have contracted.

more likely it's a fungal issue than herpes.

you wouldn't be having herpes symptoms now from the oral sex you received the end of january.

return monday to be seen again. meanwhile call off the crotch watch this weekend!!
