Potential herpes and lots of paranoia

Hi,

I am a gay male and this semester at college I had sex for the first time. It never involved anal, but in both encounters, I performed and received oral sex. We didn’t use condoms in either encounter - it wasn’t until I started getting paranoid about STDs that I knew that there were lube-free condoms for that. I didn’t notice either partner having any visible sores at all and since then I haven’t noticed anything in my mouth. However, I found out that you can get genital herpes from HSV1, which I don’t think I’ve previously had. We also made out so I feel like I probably would have caught HSV1 in my mouth too if there were mouth herpes involved, but again, nothing that I saw.

Anyway, it’s been about a week and a half since my most recent encounter and now I noticed a couple red spots, kind of like zits or ingrown hairs on opposite sides of my groin. There’s nothing that I feel concerned about on my penis yet, but on the base where my pubic hair is, there were a couple of those spots. The first one appeared and I was concerned, but I thought I might be overreacting. When I saw the second one yesterday, it drove me into panic and now I had trouble sleeping and the lack of sleep is making my stress and panic about it much worse. If I hadn’t had sex, I wouldn’t have been concerned about the spots, but I’m now convinced that I have herpes and I’m having my first outbreak.

I need help! Does this sound like herpes? How will I ever know? I’ve heard it can be years before your first outbreak and I can’t keep living like this...

Herpes produces fluid filled blisters that burn. If you only had oral sex with no pubic area contact,  you shouldn’t have caught genital herpes.

From unprotected oral,  there is the possibility of catching oral gonorrhea and syphilis.  Those can be treated with antibiotics. You could have also caught oral herpes or oral warts. Those are for life.
Are your sores painful?

What do you mean by oral sex with no pubic contact? If I received, isn’t that pubic contact?

And no, I don’t think the sores hurt. It’s hard to tell because I have been really anxious about it so any little sensation down there has me very worried. It’s also hard to tell because sometimes it will hurt in different areas when I’m running, but that could be from chafing or more hypochondria. I can’t really tell to be honest.

What would the symptoms of the other STDs be? Should I be concerned?
