What to do next

Had unprotected oral sex and protected sex 2 weeks ago. In three days following started having slight burning then worse burning when peeing.  Was also feeling exhausted and a queasy.  Went to urologist who took urine to culture and put me on Cipro.  Ill feeling went away before starting the Cipro but burning got much worse.  Several days in got itching and some mild soreness in my anus and one week in got what looks like conjunctivitis.  There is no penile discharge but I'm 11 days into the Cipro and no significant improvement in the burning when peeing or my eyes.  Three days ago urologist sent me for another urine sample, this time first pee of the morning.  Hope to get the tests back today but also worried about my pinkeyes.  Been reading and wondering if this could be Microplasma Genitalium or some other newer STD and if so what the proper treatment is.  I read its 1g of azithromycin although I also read that is only effective about 80% of the time and if it fails the second treatment id moxyfloxacin 400mg for 7 days.  Am I on the right track here? And should I do something separate for my eyes?  And why not just take the moxy in the first place if is more reliable?  Should I believe my urologist if he finds nothing in the recent urine and says its just prostatitis or should I push for some sort of specific test for MG or other newer STD?

if they are connected it's only because you got the pink eye germs from the person you were with. really, it's not more than that.

if it's viral, antibiotics won't help at all. you can have a viral ngu infection that will go away in time.

wait at least a week after finishing the cipro before more testing.  make sure they also check out your prostate too when seen next if symptoms don't clear up.

meanwhile avoid caffeine, alcohol and spicy foods too. sometimes they add to irritation in males.

Oh ok didn't know that, I'm new here.
pink eye started about a week into the burning in my urethra while peeing symptoms.  I'd be surprised if they were actually unconnected.
11 days of Cipro has had no effect on either.  Culture for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia just came back negative and Dr says finish the Cipro and you could do an ejaculative test next, which i gather means ejaculate in the cup and they test that for various infections.
He did not manually examine it.

this is not the doctor's forum. you have to pay to post on the std experts forum if you want a doctor's response.

actually most people with mycoplasma don't have any symptoms at all. we don't even treat it unless you are having active symptoms.

pink eye is typically viral . It's easily transmitted by touching contaminated surfaces and even just breathing within 3 feet of someone. It's not std related. apply warm compresses several times a day, stay home and away from others and if it's not better in a week, be seen to see if you need an antibiotic eye drop.

did your urologist also manually examine your prostate when you were seen ?

No need to be snippy.  I was hoping a doctor would respond.  Not sure if you are a med professional. Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) may not be new but it was just recognized as an STD in the past 5 years or so and is not on the standard lists of STD's one gets tested for. That's what I meant by new (as opposed to the ones everyone knows about).  And I don't think MG always presents with discharge.   Not sure my doc is as on top of this issue as he could be.

So you want me to question what a Dr finds and tell you? Not going to do that. Any tests at this point while on medication is going to be flawed. I don't see this as a STD issue without discharge. Keep working with your Dr.

Oh and there are no "new" STD's.
