concerned about mycoplasma genitallium

Dear sir/Madam,

I had an intercourse with my wife two weeks ago and after 5 days of it, she started having coloured odourful vaginal discharge which lasted for a few days, this concerned me and i went for a complete blood and urine test to make sure everything was ok with me, all my results on HIV and other STD's came back negative except that of urine culture which showed growth in mycoplasma genitallium, Doctors here told me that its a very dangerous STD and they put me on Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice a day for 15 days.
Note that this is a muslim country and when i explained the situation of my wife to my Doctor, he asked me to make her also start same medication (ciprofloxacin) 500 mg for 15 days also.

I am so worried and concerned for both of us, is mycoplasma genitallium a very serious disease, is it treatable, how long will it take for the disease to go away completely, when should i get tested again after i complete the medication, how serious is it for my wife? Please help me here as i am very concerned and scared.

God Bless.
Thanks,

i have a few questions, can you please answer.

1) how much time does mycoplasma genitallium takes to be enough active in a body to get transmitted sexually?

2) once transmitted is cyprofloxacin the best remedy for it, as i am being prescribed for it and the same is for my wife?

3) strangely, my last un protected sex was two months back, after 2 weeks of that unsafe intercourse , i had an intercourse with my wife and she was still fine, no symptoms etc, but after one month of intercourse with my wife she ended up having odorful yellowish colour discharge happened after 4/5 days of intercourse and lasted for 3 days. after that we got tested and i was diagnosed with mycoplasma genitallium, i was tested negative for all remaining STD's and ELISA HIV.
So is this normal that during intercourse after two weeks my wife did not show any symptoms but after one month she did, Is it because by one month mycoplasma bacteria was sufficiently multiplied in my urine or geitals?

Kindly if you can answer these above questions as this situation is keeping me extremely worried.
please give me some hope, i need it because all this has taken me into anxiety and i am now taking anxiety pills to control my nerves.

thanks

any hiv related questions need asked in the hiv forum.

this isn't a std issue so no reason why your wife can't be seen by a gyn in a muslim country!  women get vaginitis all the time and following up on it properly is normal.

a quick question here, I tested for HIV I and HIV II, after 45 days of unprotected sex. it came back negative.

Is this valid as most of the sites say that any antibody should appear in 30 to 45 days time.

also please let me kow if only one unprotected sex can cause HIV infection.
I am too worried please.

Can't say. Based on the above info it is not something that should wait a while to be checked out. And you can not have sex with her as if she does have it you may be reinfected.

Here is a little info on it...Mycoplasma genitalium can cause inflammation of the urethra in men and inflammation of the cervix and uterine lining in women, possibly leading to infertility. Most cases are asymptomatic and none of the infected participants had any unusual discharge.

Your wife would need to be seen by a Dr at this point.

No, she has not been tested for genital symptoms, and the doc who tested me with mycoplasma genitallium, has suggested for her to use ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day.

As we live in a muslim country, its hard to take her for such tests to an STD clinic.

Please advice what should be done.

Thanks,
