Auto-inoculation HSV-1

I have been diagnosed with HSV-1 for as long as I can remember.  Based on my life experience, this is an opportunistic viral infection.  Every time I'm in the sun too long, I get "sun poisoning" (a cold sore) on my face.  Every time I get sick and my nose runs, I get cold sores "in" my nose and on my philtrum? (area between nostrils and upper lip).  On average I have a cold sore on my face at least 1 week a month.  I take acyclovir PO and topical zythromax.

I learned to deal with this and never really thought about spreading the disease to myself.  But!!!  after I became sexually active, I started freaking out that I was going to give *myself* genital hsv-1.  (1) Whenever I insert a tampon, I freak out that I might have touched my face prior to doing so (I use ob tampons but now I think I should buy applicator).  I make an effort to wash my hands prior to switching tampons but sometimes I forget.  (2) I freaked out the last time I received oral sex after having kissed my boyfriend.

So, I have a couple of questions:
1) Are these legitimate concerns?
2)What is the likelihood of spreading HSV-1 to my genitals in these circumstances?
3) Is there anything I could do to lessen the number of outbreaks I receive so these situational concerns aren't as big of a problem?
4) Is there a drug more powerful than acyclovir?
