itching

My wife and I have started taking medication for chamlydia. It seems as though my wife saids she has a problem with itching at her vagina. Could this be another problem we have been taking the medicine cipro for two weeks. Is there another problem or is the cipro not working.

The cipro would be inhibiting the growth of any bacteria you have in your body, but its not killing the chlamydia.

At 4 weeks, 90% of people would show positive on an HIV test.   Remember that less than 1% of folks have hiv, and that there are almost 3 million new cases of chlamydia each year, so chlamydia and HIV obviously don't go hand in hand, ok?

I don't know but I think the cipro is working I feel better the discharge has stopped, I'am just worried that is someone has chamlydia they also have hiv, like I said we were tested about 3-4 weeks after our first sex.
Bothe of us were neg. for hiv. Is this enough time.

Right, 1 g of azythromicin should take care of it right away, or a week of doxycycline twice per day. Any doctor who recommends cipro for chlamydia would seem at best careless and at worst incompetent. (I'm not a doctor or specialist in such things, but I know enough to know that cipro is not an effective treatment for chlamydia and never has been - in all likelihood, your symptoms aren't subsiding because the cipro is not working and is not meant to work on chlamydia.)

So she was a virgin at 48?  She could have had this, or you could have, before you all got together, but the liklihood of that depends on how long you've been together.

Cipro is NOT a treatment for chlamydia in the US.  You need azithromycin or doxycycline.

Tell your doc to refer to the 2006 CDC STD Treatment Guidelines.  Here is the link if you want to show him - http://www.cdc.gov/std/treatment/2006/urethritis-and-cervicitis.htm#uc4

HIV takes approx 6 weeks to show up. Herpes takes 3-4 months to show up in a blood test.

We had a conversation about it and she swears up and down she hasn't had any sex. I told her that can't be true. It was a conversation that wasn't going no where. We both were tested for hiv and both were negative. We both got tested about 3-weeks after our first sex. If she is not telling the truth about sex if she was positive would 3-weeks be enough for me to have an acturate test espicially since I have gotten chalmydia.

If you all of a sudden started having symptoms after having sex, it sounds like she had it and did not know it. Many people do not know that they have STDs until a partner develops symptoms.

HIV is rare. You should not worry too much about it... You should have a conversation about sexual history to share when you were with prior partners.

You should both get tested for all STDs. If it was more than 6 weeks ago, a HIV test should be pretty accurate.

Yes we are both from the us and yes we have had sex, the doc said it would be ok since we are both taking the medicine. But now I'am very worried since I have started thinking. I have never in my life had any std's, we didn't have sex until we got married she is 48 and I'am 54, we were married in Jan. after having sex I started having systoms, went and got tested found out it was chamlydia. Now I'am worried if she had chamlydia and didn't know it what are the chances she also has hiv.

Unfortunately, doctors in the US sometimes give Cipro for anything.

She could have a yeast infection from the meds. Have you all had sex since starting the meds?  She could be re-infected if that's the case.

Can I ask what country you are in?  I ask because in the US, we don't use cipro to cure chlamydia, but from what people say here is that their docs have given them cipro for chlamydia, and I'm curious about that.
