over counter remedy or doctors perscription?

I have not gone to the doctor as of yet but have these following syptoms i have had for the last 2 days: my vagina feels swollen its a little itchy and has a thick white cakey like discharge.I believe this could be a yeast infection? Am I right ? What would be best go to the doctor or over counter remedy? What causes yeast infections? I am a single lady have no children also unemployed and have no health coverage any sugguestions  welcome.

Best advice is to see a Dr...probably yeast infection but it could something else and without a Dr seeing it you can not be sure and I can't tell you that you do have this or don't have that.

You can always try an over the counter medication to treat a yeast infection and see if that does the trick.

Yeast infections are natural and normal part of life, the body produces yeast and sometimes too much which causes the infection.
