Chlamydia? Nothing?

Hello,

I want to give a bit of history to make this as cohesive as possible.

A few years ago I had a UTI and the doctor after doing some tests and a phys. exam said I had prostatitis. I was prescribed Levaquin 500mg and things cleared up no problem. I had a few recurrent flare-ups with the prostatitis, medication cleared it up within a day or two every time and I finished my prescripstions as necessary,

Recently, I had an unprotected sexual encounter with a man, I was the insertive partner and I did not use a condom, something I will never be so stupid about ever again. The next day I had what felt like urethritis and I had a constant urge to urinate, without feeling like I could empty my bladder. I went to the doctor two days later who took a urine culture and tested for Chlamydia and gonorrhea, and gave me levaquin 500mg. My urine culture came back clear and clean but the medication didn't work like it normally does, so I went to see a urologist about 10 days after seeing the first doctor.

The urologist performed a phys. exam and took a urine culture, and prescribed me Doxycycline Mono 100mg 2x Daily for 14 days. My urine culture came back clear and I finished my medication as prescribed. As per my doctor I went to get tested for STD's at a local planned parenthood (HIV, SYPH) both of which came back negative, they also took a urine culture which came back negative for chlamydia and Gonorrhea, however, the medication doesn't seem to have done much.

I sometimes have to strain to urinate and it feels almost like I don't have enough pressure, I sometimes have a split stream. I do not have nor have I ever had any burning during urination, any discharge or foul odors, or any lower back pain. I just can't seem to get a solid stream. I recently had my follow up with the urologist and he says there may be a constricture and that it does not seem to be an STD, he took another urine culture that came back clear.

Is it possible that the timing for this is just a coincidence? Or is it possible that I have an STD that won't go away or show up on testing.

This is eating me up inside, and any educated feedback would be appreciated.

Thank You.

Oh, there is a forum dedicated to Urology.  Try asking there?  Maybe someone has experienced the same thing?

Hey,

Thank you for your reply and your time. I guess I'll see how it goes with the Doctor and if I'm still at a loss search out a second opinion. I don't believe I have an STD, as most of the symptoms don't seem to fit and I've had three negative tests, and am still experiencing the symptoms after completing antibiotic courses that would have treated the STD's causing them.

Thanks again.

You are probably better off paying the $15 and asking on the actual doctor's forum.  Most of the feedback you will get will be from people who have had experienced std's and done research.

There are a couple of people who are extremely proficient in std's.  Like AuntiJessi and Grace.  They may have something to add.  I'd say you are on the right track with seeing the urologist.  But with multiple testing coming back negative, i'd find it hard to believe that you have an std.  Perhaps you can get a second opinion?  I'm sorry i can't help you any more than that.
