symptoms

ok so i have been in a relationship for the last 2 and half years. he went to jail and i hadn't had sex since september. about a month ago i got with this guy and did not use protection. last week i realy started itching, noticing a light yellow discharge that didn't smell, and swelling in my vagina. i went to the doctor yesterday and she said i have trich. i got on medication and told the guy about it. even if he is not showing signs of it, does he have it? could i have had it this whole time and not known about it? if he goes in and sees his doctor and the swab comes back negative could he still have trich? i can't just pick it up from anywhere can i? i masterbate i alot, i clean my toys after every use, that  could not have caused this could it?

You might just tell him that he might test negative and still have it, as most men do, but then its on him.  You can also mention that treatment protocols say that male partners should be treated regardless of test results if their female partners are positive for it.  I've never heard those figures for trich, and a swab, culture and urine test might all be a false negative for a male.

If you are going to have sex with him again, then he NEEDS to be treated.

thanks i thought he might test negative. he is in another relationship so i told him and got him meds but he isn't going to take them until he gets tested. should i tell him to get a culture done in the research i have done swabs are only60 percent on testing correct for it but cultures are 90 percent accurate. or should i just lesve it alone?

Yes, he could have had it and not known it - trich doesn't usually produce symptoms in men.  He will also likely test negative for it, as its hard to find trich in men.

The fact that you have it, and he had sex with you is enough that he should get treatment anyway.  Its doubtful you had it before.

You should not have sex with this guy again until he gets treatment, and about a week has passed.
