urethra irritation

I had unprotected sex with my gf.  15 days later I had pain in my urethra, just at the tip of the penis.  Day 16 it was worse.  I had several STD tests done, all came back negative.  I was given a 5 day course of Cipro and 2 Zithro, plus a shot in the rear to cover any curable STDs.  Urinalysis showed white blood cells.  Still had the pain after the course of meds was done so I went on 10 days of Doxycyclin.  Still have the irritation.  It's not bad, just uncomfortable.  No discharge or other symptoms.  The meatus is slightly red and swollen, though it's minor almost to the point of being unnoticable.   When I pull back the meatus, deeper into my uretha, I can see the tissue goes from pink to white in color about an inch in.
Is the white color of the interior meatus normal?  Any insight  to what the issue could be would be wonderful.

So, I changed Docs...the first seemed that he wasnt interested.  I found another Doctor who listened to my complaints and said "Prostate...sounds like an infection."  Gave me a prescription for Sulfa and Uroxatrol to take for 30 days.  Into my second week, the pain and irritation lessened considerably...now it's gone, no pain, no irritation.  Great Doctor!  Thank god!  I really thought that I either had an STD or was just losing my mind!

NSU and NGU are the same thing.  One is non-specific urethritis, the other is non-gonococcal urethritis.  Essentially, its any infection in the urethra that is caused by a bacteria or virus that they can't identify with simple testing.

I tested clean for NGU but "positive" for NSU.  what the blank?  You seem to have caught the same "mystery disease" that there has been no cure for, no cure for me anyways.  The doc even phrased it the "mystery disease".

My gf has no symptoms, worse thing she has had is a uti a year ago.  My NGU test was clean.  Heading back to the Urologist this coming week, maybe I'll get an answer soon.

Well, doctors suggest a prostate exam because prostatitis can cause NGU.

Green - has your gf been treated for anything?  If you have NGU, she needs to be treated, as she can just pass it right back to you.

You need to follow up with your doctor for the persistent symptoms and discoloration.

I've had a similar problem with urethral irritation, especially after urination, for more than 7 weeks since receiving unprotected oral sex.  Negative on Chlamydia/Gonorrhea TWICE, negative on NGU once, but "positive" on urinalysis for NSU.

The irritation has been better, but it still persists.  And the "Positive" NSU diagnosis was just a week ago.  Here's the Rx's: 1.5g Zithromax for three days on Second week.  3 days of Cefdinir for possible UTI few weeks later(didn't finish 10day).  Now, I'm on the 11th day of Doxycycline for the NSU diagnosis.  Doxy made it better for the first 4 or 5 days but now it's slowly coming back and I'm still popping pills.  I gotta call the doc cause they want to see me if my condition persists.  The doc even suggested a prostate exam.

I know this ain't normal and I'm not sure what the doc wants to do at this point.  I'm just tired of pills.  And to top it off, I'm fighting off a fungal infection, very slowly.
Glad I ain't the only one with this mystery "disease".
