urethritis

I had unprotected oral and then protected vaginal sex with a girl June 7th.  By June 11th I had noticed a irritation inside the penis and more frequent urination and possibly small amount of discharge.  I went to the doctor June 15th and he gave me a shot of Rocephin and doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for ten days.  This did not seem to help with the iritation but I did not notice discharge anymore (this may have never been there).  I went back to the doctor on June 24th he gave me azithromax or something like that 2000 mg and cipro (dont remember the dosage but took all at once)  and metrozinadone for 7 days (dont remember the dosage).  He gave me a refill on the azithro that I took a week later.  I went back to the doctor July 3rd and the doctor told me to not touch it and examine it all the time and to soak in baths twice a day for 15 minutes.  I have not been doing the baths.  I noticed some improvement the first couple days of not touching it but since then not much change.  My symptoms now are irritation in penis throughout the day it is worse when I have to urinate.  No real burining when urinating. no discharge.  seems worse at night.  the doctor has done no tests. but based on meds I have taken can I rule out stds?   What do you think may be causing this?  I am also taking ibuprofen throughout the day should I continue to do this?

Look, I know this might be heard to do but I think If you did not think about it the sympotms might go away.

Let me ask you, does it keep you up at night. Are there times during the day you don't think about at all? This might be something you are just concentrating on so much the symptoms don't go away.

By the way, did you ask your partner to be tested? This could provide an explanation of what you have.

Symptoms are now about 95% better almost completly gone.  I think the doctor was right and this was lingering because of irritation.  I have read on some other sites that symptoms can linger for 2 or 3 weeks especially if you are over examining things.  So for anyone out there that thinks they might have a std constantly examing yourself will not make things any better

Oh its very unfortunate that you weren't ever tested.  I don't get that at all.  You were in his office, being examined.  You should have been tested.

I'd say at this point that whatever is causing your discomfort isn't an std.  And testing now wouldn't make much sense since you have taken all the meds.

If the symptoms don't go away, then you'll need to follow up, but at this point, its going to be hard to determine if a bacteria is causing this, as you've been on all the antibiotics.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, and that what's causing this is not mild dehydration or irritation from too much caffeine or alcohol.
