vaginal discharge

early this month, i was diagnosed of candida. the OB prescribed neopenotran vaginal suppository for seven days. unfortunately, my menstruation interrupted my medication on the fifth day. so i was only able to use four suppositories on four consecutive days, resuming the medication of the three other suppositories after my cycle. the OB said this was just fine.

two weeks later i went for another gram stain for vaginal discharge, the results were as follows:

gram positive bacilli - occasional
gram negative bacilli - many
gram positive coccobacilli - rare
epithelial cells - moderate
polymorphonuclear cells - occasional

1) does this mean i am still not cured of candida?
2) does this mean i still have an infection?
3) do i have to continue with the medication (neopenotran)?
4) should i keep changing OB's?

i would really appreciate your responses.

no reason to change your provider because of this.

odds are these are just all normal vaginal flora.

for the future, you can still and should still continue to treat vaginal infections even when you have your period.  don't use tampons for your period when you have an active infection though.

1) Can't really interpet the results, you would have to ask your Dr
2) Same as #1
3) After speaking with your Dr he/she will beable to tell you what to do
4) Why?
