Cramps from Sexual Excitement

Whenever I become sexually excited I get painful abdominal cramps.  They sometimes subside, but often just intensify if I try to continue with my husband.  I have no STD's and am in a stable marriage.  What could be causing this?

Generally I'm told that it's 'in my head', but I have new doctor and hopefully she'll be more supportive.  She'll already suggested a few tests, but I'll ask her about the ultrasound.  Thank you so much for the advice!!

That is exactly how I described the pain to my doctor. I could literally feel a knot...and feel the tightening where the pain was located. After having an ultrasound...found out my uterus was enlarged. I am now 5 weeks out from having a hysterectomy. Guess they found something called Adenomyosis which was explained to me as the cells of my uterus bonding and meshing with the muscle of the uterus. It was so painful and beyond that  it was frustrating beyond belief. I am very hopeful that I will never feel that pain again. Have you talked to a doctor about it? If so...what have they said. I had been to my primary dr many times for over 2 years and finally went to a ob/gyn to get someone to take me serious about the pain...and do something about it. I hope you are able to see someone who will help you figure out what is going on with you.
