Can dry, rough sex cause vaginal lesions?

Hello, I recently had sex for the first time in about six months. He was very large and the third time, third day in a row, we had sex it was very dry and it hurt going in. I figured the soreness was just from the friction, him being large, using a condom and my being dry, so we had sex again the next two days. The fifth day (after the fifth day in a row having sex) I started to get symptoms of BV which I have had before and typically happens after sex with a new partner. It also hurt down there so I used a mirror to check it out. I saw that I had sores on both side of my vaginal opening, one sore looking kind of like a canker sore. I am definitely going to a clinic tomorrow to get it looked at and tested but I'm wondering if it's even possible for dry, painful sex to cause lesions in your vagina? I know if I bite my lip it always turns into a canker sore so I'm wondering if your vagina can act in a similar way?
