Nodular melanoma spread

This is for my best friend, who asked me to look.  (I know this will not be a good prognosis)  She was diagnosed with nodular melanoma last Feb; 3.5 mm deep, ulcerated.  Was on her lower abdomen.  They did a VERY wide excision, and did a sentinel node biopsy at her groin that was negative.  She underwent one full year of Interferon treatment, finished in March.  Went back for a follow up PET scan last week.  Results showed positive axillary nodes.   Just in those nodes.  Is that considered "distant mets"?  :-(    Prognosis and treatment?  What stage would she be considered?

I'm sorry I thought this was a forum where doctors answered questions?????   My friend does not have another doctor's appointment for almost ten days, she wants some answers sooner than that.   And so do I, truth to tell.  Are there really no doctors here?

I'm sorry I can't answer your questions and there are no doctors on this forum but I did want to say how sorry I am to hear about your friend's illness. She needs to ask her specialist these questions.
