what are the chance of it being skin cancer

Hello
I am kind of freaked out at the moment I noticed this strange looking mole on the sole of my foot about 12 months ago, didnt really think much of it at all. then it started to get bigger so I showed it to my mother just before christmas who said I should see a doctor about it. I do have a family history of lots of different cancers including skin cancer. This mole thing does not look like any of my other moles if I look closely at it, its streaky and it has gotten bigger it has doubled in size since I first noticed it now about 1/2 a cm in size. since then I have had another mole come upon my other foot but that one looks ok. I am in the UK, went to see my GP and they give me a stuff to make an appointment online the soonest I could get one with the NHS was the 8th april, so I thought to myself it cant be that bad if I have to wait so long. then today the hospital phone me up asking me to come yesdarday but there was no way I could get over there and only time I can go is tues, then I got the letter with my appointment on with a printed information sheet about mrsa and how because I might be having an oparation/procedure I will need screening for mrsa, clearly all of this has freaked me out more as they seem to have rushed my appointment and anyone that knows the NHS knows they don't rush anything. so what are the chances of this being cancer I am only 29 years old white, with grey/green eyes, my mother and family have red hair but I have brown (was blonde when I was little). I avoid getting sun burnt in fact the only time I ever got burnt was when I was about 10 years old I went away with a friend and her family and fell asleep in the sun (was left asleep out there). and if it is arcal melanona what are the chances that it has spread to other parts of my body. I know I should not be freaking out but if you seen my family history you would understand why I am .

I am a brunette - not a sun worshipper - in fact I stay out of it.  Strange that the moles that looked weird were ok - and when I go to a dermatologist I mentioned to the assistant about a tick bite I had years ago on top of my head - (Doctors and beauticians have seen it for years) - I was told that it looked weird, did biopsy and had MOH surgery.  The surgeon kept checking - healed fine - has me upset is the assistant looked at surgery, said same thing when she first looked at top of head - did biopsy right next and - basil cell again - what infuriated me was that they scan my body all the time - but why didn't they look at my whole skull - my friend got stuck in that old line - "we didn't get it all" he got disgusted and went elsewhere - I have a element of distrust but do know I have to do something - any suggestions

Good on you for getting a changing mole checked out. I can't tell you what it might be but acral nevi often look a bit strange ie streaky and they might need to remove it or part of it to be 100% sure one way or the other.

Take care. It is understandable that you are worried but please try to wait until you find out things for sure before thinking the worst.
