Hi calamardy, how are you doing? Thanks for your reply and hope you are keeping well. It would be better to discuss your concerns with your attending physician during your follow up visit. If you are having problems in taking Sertraline, get it reviewed during your drug update visit. You can also wait for some time and try to relax and improve your healthy sleep habits. I hope you will get better soon. You can get some useful tips to have good sleep by going through this link: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sleep/HQ01387
Keep physically active and do update on the doctor follow up advice. Take care.
thanks, suri. I have to clarify, I have always slept well, that's not a problem for me.
Hi calamardy, how are you doing? Hope you might be feeling better by now and able to get some sleep with the medication. You need to relax and try not to think too much on the ongoing sleep problems as it can just increase your stress and may worsen. "Sertraline is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor used mainly to treat depression, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder (social phobia) and few side effects like nausea, dry mouth, increased sweating, drowsiness, diarrhea, upset stomach". You may go through this link for more details: http://www.medicinenet.com/sertraline-oral/article.htm
It will take some time to get better results. Do regular follow-ups with the doctor and keep updating.
Ok, I went to the psychiatrist (I feel it's the better choice for now) and she told me to take sertraline for a month to see If I get the wanted improvement. That was some time ago, I didn't take the sertraline then because I felt kind of scared about it because I read it is an antidepresive and I'm not depressive. Later I talked about it with a couple psychiatrists on the internet and my psychiatrist, they all told me not to be scared about it, they told me it was just to help something related to serotonin. I've been using the sertraline for a week and I noted that like the last 3 days my "daily feeling average" is been better (I call it average because it's not stable), I can't be sure it's because of the sertraline though.
What do you think about sertraline being recommended to me?. What is it doing to me?, just increasing the serotonin secretion?
I believe I'll see my psychiatrist sometime this week, but the more point views I get, the best :)
Hi calamardy, thanks for your reply and giving some more information. Well, as you have the investigation reports you can ask for a follow up visit by the attending physician to review the report. You need to focus on overcoming the stress level by depending on the various factors responsible to it. I do not think you might have any respiratory problems with your history. You may ask your doctor for chest x- rays to rule out any pathology. Do take care of you and keep posting your thoughts.
I got the endocrinology results a couple weeks ago but the doctor told me the that the only thing that is not normal is my stress level, I suppose it's a little high as a consequence of my sickness (whatever it is).
I was thinking, could a respiration problem cause my symptoms?, because most of the time I feel I don't breathe completely.
Hi Calamardy, thanks for your reply and positive perception. Hope you would do well and get better sooner. Please keep us informed about the doctor's visit outcome and also your thoughts. Good luck and take care. Regards.
Ok, thank you very much :)
Hi Calamardy, It is a good idea to consult your physician and get a complete evaluation, you should freely express your problems and discuss how you will be taken through the evaluation and treatment aspect. This would be a relief and decrease your stress. Keep up the appointment and update on the doctor's advise. Take care.
I'm going to see a psychian tomorrow. Do you think it's a good idea?
Chronic fatigue syndrome suggests, this illness is accompanied by six months or more of unexplained fatigue accompanied by following symptoms like cognitive dysfunction, including impaired memory or concentration, postexertional malaise lasting more than 24 hours (exhaustion and increased symptoms) following physical or mental exercise, unrefreshing sleep, joint pain (without redness or swelling), persistent muscle pain, headaches of a new type or severity, tender cervical or axillary lymph nodes and sore throat. It is good to see a neurophysician and get evaluated. keep us informed. Take care.
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I'm 19 years old and I don't think it's a stress related problem. I readed today about CFS and I think that that might be my problem, I think I'm having fatigue and brain fog most of the time but I don't have alot of the other symtoms. Do you think that CFS is most likely my problem?
Hi Calamardy, I think you are under stress could be due to hard day or family issue or personal problem. Although you sleep 8 hours a day still it might not be a sound sleep. How old are you and what you do. Do you see any major weight loss. Are you on any other medications. You can discuss your endocrinology reports with your doctor and ask him for a sleep study if necessary. Do morning evening walk, stretches, have nutritious diet with lot of water or other liquids, have hot shower and listen to soft music before going to bed, these can be soothing to mind and body. Mild dose of alprax also can be tried. Update of your laboratory results. Take care.
