Hi smell, Thanks again for your reply. Did you have similar episodes repeating? Well, you need to take things a bit easy and try to relax and be free of stress, which is most common trigger for sleep disturbance. Sometimes even sleep deprivation due to personal cause, late night sleep habits, a distracting environment etc can be cause of sleep paralysis. Reassurance to self is also important, as this might not continue for long time. A change in place, position of sleep might help sometimes. As i said earlier, you need to be free of stress. If still it happens, consult a neurologist or sleep specialist. Please share your thoughts.
Thanks, I'm so relieved :D
Hi, thanks for your thoughts scarlet and how are doing smell? Most of the times you might not harm yourself or others but you will have a disturbed sleep that night and due to the frightening and nervousness caused by sleep paralysis. Try to change your sleeping position and avoid sleeping supine, and better to sleep little early. If it recurs do not scare and just go about to move a particular part of body like limbs or move head. Alprax before sleep can be tried. Most important thing is to get rid of stress. Exercise and meditation can be helpful. Take care and update your views.
It's called sleep paralysis. It usually occurs at the onset of sleep or upon waking. Although it can be scary you will not die from this. It would be beneficial to let your doctor know that this is happening in case of underlying issues.
Hang in there~
Hi, Relax! This kind of sleep disturbance does occur sometimes in deep sleep. It is a temporary phenomenon where in you are incapable of moving your body or even part of it physically but keep trying to shout loudly or seek someone’s help. It may be lasting for a few seconds to minutes. It can repeat once again if you sleep and before waking up. There may not be any physical injury to body but you will be probably frightened with sweating and increased heart beat, one may feel a shortness of breath or air hunger. Night terrors can aggravate it further. You need to reassure yourself nothing has happened and nothing is going to happen. Few things like avoiding - alcohol at night with smoking, caffeine, too spicy bulky meal and going to bed late night can be helpful. If at all it becomes daily concern then consult a sleep specialist for a sleep study and evaluation. Take care.
