I'm lost... can anyone help?

I don't necessarily think I have narcolepsy, but I dunno. I get pleanty of sleep at night, but it seems no matter how much or little sleep I get I am always tired during the day. Sometimes I even find myself waking up from a light nap (at work). When I do sleep, I seem to be aware of everything that is around me. I had my fiance (who gets home from work when Im asleep) do different things in the bedroom. He said i never woke up, but yet I know exactly everything he did. My doctor doesnt seemed to alarmed about it, but I am 24 and should not be so tire that all I want to do is sleep. Anyone have any advise?

these were some of my symptoms.  I was also having great difficulty with nodding off driving, sitting in school, at work, doing things.  watching movies in a theater.  I had a sleep study done.  I recomend that.  I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy...without a question...I guess I have the coolest disorder there is.  That is the way I see it.  J/K.  If that is what they find, or if it is sleep apnea (which I know many who have) the treatments that are out there are great.  They help.  you can find somthing that will work for you.  I agree with the Suri123.  avoid caffine, and exercise.  It really does help.  I was diagnosed when I was 18, and I am 29 now.  Sleep study is best option.

Hi fastcarr, how are you doing? Are you able to have a pleasent sleep these days? Ho w are you progressing and do you see any changes in your sleep pattern? As adviced earlier, it is better to get a sleep study done. Are you taking any other medication regularly? Stress is one of the common reason and one need to focus on relaxing both physically and mentally. Increase your physical activities and do regular stretches. Try to go to bed as early as possible. Update on the doctor advice. Take care.

Hi fastcarr, how are you? Since when have you been facing this sleep problem? Can you say how many hours of undisturbed sleep you previously had. You may probably be having sleep apnea which is common around your age group and might not be aware of its happening, sometimes resulting in number of awakenings per night, ending up having excessive daytime sleep because of fatigue, feeling unrefreshed after waking up and daytime sleep attacks (nodding off) at your workplace. You seem to be under stress due to improper sleep and lack of concentration at work place and its interference in daily living activities. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, smoking and heavy meals. A healthy sleeping habit, scheduling daytime naps (30-60 minutes in length), and normal regular exercise and meal schedule may also be of some help. Consult a sleep specialist and get sleep study done. Take care and keep updating.
