Oversleeping and unable to control my sleep

Hi..Since the past year or so, I have developed a habit of oversleeping a lot. I generally sleep for about 10 hrs a day, and I am never able to bring this figure down as if on some day I sleep for lesser than this amount, I have severe headaches and I am unable to concentrate throughout the day and the next day I can't stop myself from sleeping even more. Moreover I am never able to sleep earlier than the time I slept at, on the previous day. I have also noticed a deterioration in the functioning of my brain. Also, my eyes are watery and red throughout the day and it's been the case since an year. I did not consult any physician throughout this time and right now, I want to know if these are the symptoms of any serious disorders.

Depression frequently re-occurs for many people who have had problems with it.
It's a disorder then is rarely 'cured' but can be successfully treated.
Go back to your Psych. and i'm sure you can benefit from it.
Let us know and good luck.

Thanks and I'm glad you made this decision. I think you will be glad too.
Make positive moves on your own behalf and this alone will help you feel better.
I know what you are going thru...Unless it happens to you it's hard to really appreciate it.
You recognize that something is not right and have taken steps to check it out.
This is probably one of the most important things.
Let us know how you make out...
Thanks

It seems you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression.  For many these are physical conditions and your additude might not effect it.
These symptoms are common to a number of conditions so you should seek professional help to zero in on why you are having them.
Having had depression in the past is a good indicator, but it's not a forgone conclusion.
Depression and Anxiety are symptoms and you need to seek the cause.

I was in a state of depression 2 years ago..had a few sessions with a psychiatrist and everything has been okay since then though I believe I haven't ever been able to become the person I was (not in terms of personality and stuff but as in my mental health).

Ask your doctor to order a sleep study. Sleep deprivation can cause all these symptoms. Good luck and blessings.
