Paralyzed & shaking while sleeping

Early this morning, while I was sleeping, I felt and heard what seemed to be some type of 'spirit' sit behind me on my bed. This spirit touched my back, more specifically, my spine with two fingers. The first touch sent a jolt through me and the second one sent a stronger humming type jolt that lasted a minute or so. I was terrified and kept my eyes shut. As it subsided, it felt as if whatever that was moved off to the foot of the bed, stood for a second, then came around to where my head was at and leaned down to try to kiss my head. I buried my head in my mattress and then it seemingly walked out of my room. I'm pretty sure I was shaking, almost like a seizure, but very stiff the entire time. I was trying to scream for help, but I could get the words out.

This is maybe the 6th time that this has happened in the last 3 years; each episode being different. The first few times it happened, I thought they were nightmares and that the presence was some type of evil spirit. I've wrote every other episode off, but the one this morning scared me so much that I was afraid to go back to sleep. Of course, my doctor thinks that I'm crazy but one of my friends thinks that God is trying to communicate with me. Has anyone out there had similar experiences?

I sometimes wake up with my arms shaking uncontrollably.  This hadn't happened for a while and then about 4 days ago I was having a dream that was normal and nothing scary at all.  In my dream I told the person I was talking to that they were shaking, and they said that I was the one shaking, so I wake up to my arms shaking and then my chest was shaking violently, I was able to reach over and wake up my wife and told her to feel my arms, and she couldn't feel anything, so then I said feel my chest sense it was shaking really bad.  She said I was not shaking at all.  I could not go back to sleep at all from fear of what was wrong with me.  The shaking that must be apparently all in my head felt so real, and I can't find much on this online.

I have had the same things happen to me but I seen them as evil spirits and my family told me I better get right with God. The last time was Nov. 5,2015. My sister had her baby that night and I went to her house to sleep because I was gonna clean her house and organize before they came home it was around 3am. My bother and his friends were there playing loud music and playing a video game I reckon I told them to turn it down I was headed to bed. Well. I wish I would have stayed in there with them after what happened. I went to bed and soon as I was going to sleep I seen a dark shadow by the window coming toward me and i could hear my brother and his friends outside my door in the other room. One of them went right past my door and I tried to scream help but couldn't speak. My muscles were drawn tensed up and I couldn't move either it grabbed my ankle and pulled me toward the window and I kept trying to say I rebuke you Satan in the name of Jesus but I couldn't udder anything. So I cried uncontrollably and when I finnaly did get free I sprang to my feet in the bed and pulled the light switch I hollard at my brother and he said what I said come here please and he came to the room and asked what was wrong I said I nothing j was just checking on you did you hear me scream and he said no not til now when you asked me to come here .ikept the light oj the remaining hours of darkness and i think i slept maybe an hour sitting up and left that door open as well.  I was thinking he would think I was crazy if I told him so I didn't tell him anything that night. When I did tell my family I was told to get right with God and not to be bringing bad spirits in their house anymore to stop what all bad I was doing before I stayed again there. They said it couldn't have been in the house before I came because I had two other experiences at  my fiances and my house. I just wanted help. I thank God it hasnt happened lately but if I'm scared I don't sleep. Like tonight. Everyone in my house is pass out dreaming and I'm afraid to leave the bed to just go to the restroom. Its a horriblehhorrible experience I never want to deal with again .

I went through about a 4 month period where this happened to me a lot. It was more prone to happen when I had been up late and drinking alcohol. I would go to sleep, and all of the sudden I would wake up shaking uncontrollably and felt like I was going to pass out. For some reason if I immediately stood or sat up it helped the feeling go away. I would finally feel better, so I would lie back down. Literally as soon as I started dozing off it would happen again, or I could feel it coming on again so I'd sit up. Numerous nights I ended up staying awake or sleeping sitting up because I was scared to go to sleep or lie down flat. The times when I had NOT stayed up late or been drinking, I would wake up gasping for air and could not get any air in for about 20 seconds. I would also be completely paralyzed and could not move for about 30 seconds. I googled this, which is sleep paralysis, but I cannot find anything that goes into much detail about the tremors and seizure like feeling. I must mention also that the times when I would be paralyzed, I would first wake up to a vision of someone standing over me in my bed, or other things. I was convinced for a while that there was some kind of spirit following me and haunting me in my sleep. Especially because it only lasted for that 4 months or so and then I haven't had one since. This has been about 9 months ago when it ended. VERY scary though! Not a good feeling being scared to go to sleep.

This is a very common symptom of narcolepsy, u fall asleep & go into REM sleep. Its where u start dreaming & ur bodys natural defense while dreaming is to paralyze & completely relax ur muscle so u cant accidently injure urself. If ur body does this sleep paralysis it may signal a sleeping disorder. U should ask ur doctor to refer u to a sleep specialist. Get a sleep study done & ull know for sure if u have a sleeping disorder. I have one. Ull need to have the overnite sleep test & daytime nap study called MSLT its very important to get both done during the same time.

I just read your experience of sleep paralysis and had to respond. I have had many such experiences but one of them was similar to yours. It was my first experience at age 17 in 1974. I was sleeping and awoke in paralysis. I could see my room and heard footsteps  coming down the hall towards my room. The door opened and the presence, which seemed to be a dark shadowy figure walked to the side of my bed. It proceeded to touch the top of my head and made what was either the sign of the cross or an X. across. front to back( forehead to back of my neck) and (ear to ear) side to side. It was also like a tingling feeling also. He was speaking a language I didn't understand. It was like a ceremony of some kind. After that I felt a little better as if I had been blessed or given a gift or something. I then heard him walk out of the room. the door shut and I then fully awoke. I was so scared I never told anyone for years. On one hand it was frightening and comforting  at the same time. I still don't know what to make of it. hearing your account reminded me of it. You are not alone and I hope that you have learned to cope with your experience.

I have had this same thing.  I was paralyzed and could not move, sometimes feeling like somone sitting on my chest.  I could not scream either.   It seemed evil and when I would say I command you to leave in Jesus' name, my voice was very gravely.  I also believe in God and these experiences have brought me closer also.  It stopped after I switched jobs, same company, but work with different people.  I almost think that 3-4 of the ladies that worked there that flaunted their religion .... had a different "type" of religion.  I only told 1 person, because my next step was going to see my pastor.

I've had this and I can tell you that it is the most terrifying thing that I've ever had to experience in life.  I did not have such vivid hallucinations and never thought it was ghosts or spirits (athiest) but being stuck and not being able to move is more than enough.   Now what I have been able to determine is that this has something to do with the neck.  When my neck is sore like if the bones are not in the right places then I may have one of these episodes.  By chance have you had any kind of neck injury or car accident in the past?

My experience was 2 nights ago was tagged to the end of a dream. In my dream, I heard a clear (benign) whisper in my right ear and then my right shoulder started vibrating out of control. I woke up after it stopped. (Ok, ok, i cried out for my mom in my sleep and when she finaly heard me, it stopped, then I woke up.) It wasn't sleep paralysis feel. I had those occasionally in the past and this experience was clearly different. I feel like the shaking was "it" touching my shoulder. I wonder who the heck it was because it whispered: "Thank You".

I experience the same thing, except I have these episodes multiple times each night. I've researched sleep paralysis quite a bit but have not seen shaking as a side effect, which I seem to have too. I often have certain limbs, or even on occasion my whole body separate from my physical body during these episodes. I can watch my actual body from the ceiling and have even been able to touch myself before from up above. At first I thought I was crazy, but through research, I have also discovered this is an out-of-body experience which is sometimes related to sleep paralysis. I feel like it can't be healthy to have these occur so often (sometimes almost every hour during the night!). If anyone has found a way to lessen these episodes please help me! I have worked on reducing stress, alcohol consumption, and having stricter sleeping patters, but I seem to only get it more and more. I just really wish I could find an actual cure for the episodes!!

I googled "paralyzed while seeing ghosts" and your entry popped up. Last night, I recall having a nightmare that I fell asleep, woke up paralyzed and saw spirits, or actually more like a bunch of eye balls pearing down at me from above. I was paralyzed, unable to move at all and my body began to uncontrollably shake. I felt jolts as well, like you mentioned. I remember trying to yell, or speak but I could not. This lasted for about..I don't know exactly, but I'd say in the dream 10 minutes.

The thing is, I'm convinced it was just a nightmare but it amazes me that you have experienced the same exact thing I did last night.

You're not crazy, and if you try not to worry about it too much, it probably won't happen as much.  They say worrying and stressing can bring it on.  No one has ever died from it, and to be honest, my belief that I am covered by the blood of Jesus makes me fear nothing like this anymore.  It hasn't happened for almost a year.  It happened about 3 times a year ago, "tried" to happen I mean, but I prayed it away. :)

The scientific community calls this sleep paralysis.  You can google it and find out all about it.
I've had it happen to me at the most stressful times of my life, looking back.  Because of the overwhelming feeling of the evil presence in my room when it happens, it impacted me a lot.  I already believe in God, but it did turn me closer to Him.
It didn't happen for about 10 yrs or so, but about a year ago, it started.  As soon as it started, I prayed in Jesus' name, I command you to leave.  At first, I had to repeat it a few times before it felt like it worked.  So I figured, it probably has nothing to do with the prayer, it probably would have subsided anyway after a few seconds of repeating anything.
But with each time it happened after that, and my strong belief in God, when I would feel it coming on, as soon as I mentioned Jesus' name, it subsided.  I suppose you can call it mind over matter if you like, try it, it won't hurt.  But you have to believe it's going to help.
