You may not be on the right thyroid dose. If you are taking steps to reduce your weight, but aren't having any results, then your hormones aren't doing what they should. See your endocrinologist (and if he/she isn't awesome, find a new one!).
A low carb diet can also help you lose weight. I had to go on one for blood sugar issues and even had trouble keeping my weight up!
Consider asking for a Vitamin D test. A deficiency is more likely in those with apnea because we are often too tired to go in the sun. When I started supplementing, some of the fat just melted off without trying. There are also studies showing that people lose more weight when their Vitamin D is in a healthy range.
Lastly, if your doctors aren't amazing, do NOT settle for less. I lost years of my life feeling sick as hell because my docs who were helpless. I had to get new doctors when I moved to a new city, and they found all sorts of things and treated them. I'm not 100% but am definitely on the mend.
great, i will carry on my exercise, see what happen?
Sorry you're having such a struggle with weight loss. Guess I'm lucky there, all I have to do is stop the sweets, especially pastries, which I "love". Of course, I have to get some exercise too, but just adding a mile or so of walkig a day got 10% off of me... and that put a stop to me waking up feeling like I was suffocating.
Wishing you success.
Great, trying to loose weight, doing two hour exercise daily like playing badminton/walking/adbd exercise for two months now, on strict diet plan- avoid wheat stuff, rice, sugary products, oils.taking small portions. Dont know why weight is at same level..-
Not an answer to alternative to CPAP - unless it is supplemental oxygen.
On weight, I was diagnosed with mild OSA, so not a match to your case, but a similarity came from the weight issue. I am 6' 5" and weighted about 240+, as much as 250. The doctor said the excess weight was narrowing my throat and when I said I'd rather try to lose weight than go immediately to a CPAP, he approved. I found with the loss of only 15 pounds I no longer have the OSA symptoms. I weigh between 225 and 230 and that seems to work. Of course I was "just" overweight, mostly in the belly and neck, it seems. So a small weight loss worked. Your case may be require more, but I can say the small weight loss makes me feel and look better, by my wife's opinion. Belly no longer overhangs belt and while I need to undergo at least an overnight Recording Oximeter test at home to confirm, I am comfortable that I no longer suffer form SA.
Thanks, do you know any alternate to CPAP like - successful surgery etc
Best solution to CPAP problems with severe obstructive sleep apnea has been for me switching sides sleep on, and never sleeping on back with arms straight out to side (asphyxiation of JC). Works for me, just a suggestion. I sleep with 'mask' on R side then L side to sleep. Adjusting 'mask' is most important thing. Happy sleeping and breathing at night.
