Hello Vishwa69.
We have not heard from you since your last post. How are you ?
Have you started taking treatment for your sleep apnea ? Have you done the sleep study ? I am worried for the anxiety you have regarding Sleep apnea. Death is a very distant complication.
Please keep us posted.

I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea a few years ago. While I almost always slept all through the night, I occasionally would have episodes of waking with my airway totally closed. I also had severely low oxygen levels during these episodes of sleep. The best way to be fully evaluated is to have a sleep study done. This is an easy test, just requires you to sleep in a sleep lab for a night with some monitors hooked up to you.
Good luck,
Rob
Hello.
Obstructive sleep apnea, depending upon its severity, causes a drop in the blood oxygen levels, which leads to an increased pressure on the heart to pump more blood. This stress is a risk factor for cardiac arrest. There are studies done, which have shown the association.
You should watch for your apnea-hypopnea index. In a study done in the Yale university, a high index was seen in the patients who died of cardiac arrest or stroke.
What does your sleep study say ? Do you have mild, moderate or severe OSA ?
