So Frustrated....

Every night when I go to bed, I lay there for hours. My brain will not shut down! I can be exhausted, and the minute my head hits the pillow, I am wide awake, tossing and turning, thinking about everything under the sun. I have tried everything I can think of to relax myself and my mind before going to bed, but I still lay there for hours. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi

Thanks for writing in!
You seem to be suffering from a condition called “Onset insomnia”, where a person faces difficulty in falling asleep at the beginning of night, when he goes to bed. There may be several causes for it, which include excessive worry, stress, fear, anxiety, pain, grief, aging, mental disorders like depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. Sometimes other medical (overactive thyroid gland) or neurological disorders might lead to insomnia.

If the condition is transient, it should resolve on its own .However, if it persists then you need to see your doctor for a complete evaluation. Your doctor can then prescribe some sleep medications that could help you.
Regards.
