Tickly nose

I have used a cpap for 10 months. My most prevalent problem is that the exterior of my nose tickles as though a feather is being brushed against it.  I use a full face mask most of the time. I have tried applying Vaseline and various other moisturizers to no avail. The only thing that has seemed to help to a limited degree is "AquaPhor" daubed on my nose, not rubbed on.
However lately have been having sneezing spells, I thought it was allergies, but after reading this column, I suspect it could be cpap related.
I use a humidifier on my machine.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament and good to see you're trying hard to cope with the mask. Masks can give a claustrophobic feeling to certain individuals. You could start by trying them for very short periods and then increase the timing as you get more comfortable. Alternatively, you could try BiPAP, which is a bi level pressure device, which regulates according to inspiration and expiration, and hence is more comfortable.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

      Hi!!!
Thanks for the tips.  I have tried (4) different masks to no avail.  I think it's the velocity (air) over time that makes my nose tickle. I say over time, because it never happens  until I've been asleep for a couple of hours. The tickling partially awakes me, and I stick my finger in the mask to touch my nose then I have to readjust the mask to seal it.  I have tried the pillow type mask that makes contact with the nostrils only, but when it is adjusted tightly enough to make sure I have a seal, then it's to uncomfortable, and I can't get to sleep.
There may be nothing anyone can tell me to solve the problem, but I believe, if I'm persistent, it will improve.
                                      Thanks Again!!!

Hello and hope you are doing well.

You could try different masks and see which suits you the best. Also, have the filters and tubing cleaned at frequent intervals, it could be causing your allergic symptoms.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
