As far as i can remember, I always dreamed very vivid dreams since my childhood.
It's always in full color, and every detail is so real, so when I heard usually people dream in black and white or in blurred version I was surprised.
In my dreams I talk with people, walk under the sun, I can feel the sunlight on my skin, I can even feel the pain of syringe, I can feel the weight of stuffs I hold, and there are many people walking and talking around like in real life.
I feel like living in a matrix. Most of my dreams are ridiculous and meaningless, but sometimes the storyline is so real and reasonable make me think whether it was my past life.
When I have nightmares it's horribly real so I still sleep lights on.
What I'm curious is, can I lessen my dreams? I like dreaming except nightmares, but it makes me so tired, I can't function in my DAILY life.
I can't wake up fresh after dreaming about 'went to old soviet country to earn money then a wicked broker stole all my money so I had to find him and run away to my home' kind of dreams. Uh the exhaustion.
I have taken benzos, ssri's, even anti-psychotic meds, but rarely they worked. benzo lessened my dreams to some point but still a lot of dreams, ssri's made my dreams worse vivid, anti-psychotics made me too depressed so i quit all and now sometimes take benzos. (Though i didn't take those drugs because of dream problems)
AND I'm not depressed. My psychiatrist didn't think i'm depressed. ( though she told me I'm very angry all the time.)
Ah... Yeah I've been to psychiatrists cause i have many psychosomatic(?) problems so physical docs sent me to mental docs. :( ; problems like severe stomach cramping or hyper sensory perception but nothing is wrong physically.
So...
Anyone is like me? and found any reason of dreaming too much?
I LIKE dreaming, but it's time to come out to real world. I'm so sleepy and tired, want to get out of dream world.
A lot of studies are going on to study the importance of REM sleep, which is the dream phase of sleep. Psychologists generally agree that achieving the dream state of sleep is a critical element for maintaining good mental health. Conversely, depriving ones self from dreaming can cause a number of adverse health problems, including fatigue, reduced immune system efficiency, heart disease and mental health issues including delusions and severe cognitive reasoning deficits.
So, dreaming may be a good, but disorders related to dreaming could occur with REM sleep behavior disorders. Consult your doctor to rule out this condition.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
