How does sleep apnea effect you?

Hello! I'm a 26y Female, who is overweight. I believe I have sleep apnea, and I want to ask my doctor to send me for a sleep study. I wake up often in the night, and feel like I need to take a deep breath. (Sometimes my lungs hurt for a few moments) I have morning headaches often, and I don't feel rested no matter how long I sleep. I have debilitating daily fatigue, sleepiness, and lightheadeness, can this be sleep apnea? Would it really effect my day this way? I feel like crap all the time. Did you get better? Thanks!

That absolutely sounds like sleep apnea, and I would definitely approach your gp about a referral for a sleep study.

Sleep deprivation long term takes a real toll on your day, your cognition, and eventually your health.

It's good to be proactive!  Go for it.  And yes, CPAP therapy will definitely help you feel better if you have untreated apnea events.
