sleep apnea vs. sleep eating and night terrors.

Does sleep apnea affect other sleep disorders such as night terrors, sleep eating, sleep walking, etc.?  The physician who ordered by bi-pap machine wouldn't even discuss the other sleep disorders I have.  He seemed uninterested.  I'm so exhausted I'm starting to think there's no point anymore of trying.  I feel like I'm floating through and useless to everyone around me.  I live in a very small community and there is no one else in my insurance coverage group to go to.  He told me the sleep disorders are rare that I am experience and he doesn't care as long as I buy the 3500 dollar machine from his affilliates.

Just wanted to ad the comment that I used  to sleep eat my neuro stopped it with Topomax a antiseizure drug. I needed it any way I have seizures, but he said it is sometimes prescribed for people that sleep eat. Soundls like you need a dif sleep specialist. Any other towns around you that you can go to? You will feel out of touch until you get all sorted out, My Dad did he had sleep apnea. Like the previous post says educate yourself. There is a great deal of excellent information at libraries and on the internet about apnea. Dont give up the ship. :)

Hi. I responded to your other post but wanted to add a couple things. Sometimes machines can be bought online at a lesser cost. Just be careful to do your homework so you don't end up with a machine not adequate for your needs. About your other sleep disorders and the doctor not caring, I kinda doubt that's the case. He just doesn't want to "chase rabbits". All the other problems are just side issues. Your primary diagnosis is sleep apnea. Only after successfully treating it for a while will you be able to see what residual symptoms need to be further addressed. He would be remiss in his responsibilities if he allowed you to major on the minors. I know this is not what you want to hear, but I am passionate about telling others to please not let sleep apnea rob them of their health and livelihood like I did. The worse you get, the longer the road back. Not sure if it will help your particular case, but until you work this out, try elevating the head of your bed just a few inches and staying off your back. Won't cure you, but may help just a bit. Ask the doctor for a copy of your report - not just a summary, but also the details (should be a few pages). Educate yourself about your condition and its severity. Look for how low your oxygen goes - there's all kinds of fascinating info there. Best wishes as you move forward.
