There are many causes of insomnia and treating any root cause for anxiety or depression is important.  Also important is treating the insomnia itself.

A Harvard study in 2004 demonstrated medications are not the best treatment for insomnia, but rather Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) is better.  CBTi is safe in the long term, is less expensive, has no side effects, and treats insomnia at the root cause instead of just trying to "knock someone out" like medications do.  If you go see a sleep doctor in person, CBTi is what they will recommend.  Alternatively, online programs have been found to be equally effective and less expensive.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

You should stop becoming anxious about sleep as this becomes a vicious cycle and you may face problems falling asleep. There is a circadian rhythm for all living organisms. It is a 24 hour cycle rhythm and the biological clock within that individual adapts to this rhythm. If you observe this rhythm, the transition happens gradually, like the daylight subsides slowly into darkness and the sounds too gradually mellow down into the night. These changes condition us and promote sleep. So, nearing bed time, do not engage in activities like exercise or dancing or other means that can keep you active.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Very vague. Im guessing you've explored a variety of answers on your own?
Caffeine intake? Other stimulants/prescriptions? Lack of physical activity? Anxiety?
Any one of those things can contribute. Its best to tackle the problem of restlessness by approaching all of them together. Stop using stimulants during the day, get excersise every day for about 30 min, eat well, dont eat right before sleep.
The hard part about all of that is that it often requires changes to many engrained habits. Its easier said then done to really get yourself up and go work out for a half hour, or cut back on drinking that coffee during the day.
If none of those things seem to work its probably importnat that you talk to a doctor about it. Sleep is CRITICALLY importnat to many other aspects of your life (i.e. mood, appetite control, focus/concentration, productivity, etc.)
