5 Mos. Today

Wow, what a miracle having five months of being a non smoker. There have been times where I have been on a roller coaster. I caught my son smoking a cigar a few weeks ago. Of all people! He is the reason I quit. He tried to convince the "unconvincable mom" that cigars are not addicting. Kids! I didn't even have to get angry with him; the look of disappointment on my face said it all. So for the past few weeks I have been stable in my commitment to being smoke free (son helped again). Carting along a friend who smokes for the past few weeks has been helpful. I see how much time he spends on smoking. Everytime we get into and out of the car, every stop we make, a couple of times up from the table and going outside to smoke. When he isn't smoking he is crawling out of his skin. I don't want this anymore. I was worried about my quit being around him yet it actually had the affect of making me stronger. In no way am I suggesting to do this. I have been coughing more, my chest and throat are burning too. I didn't experience this right away, it just started a couple months ago. Could be allergies. I just believe that it is my bodies way of getting rid of all the pollution in my lungs. I am so grateful for medhelp at my fingertips and all the support of family and friends. Commitment, Support. These have been valuable tools for me. Thank you!!!!

Lol, I have been diagnosed at age of 12 with GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and that illness caused me many irrational worries and disorders such as hypochondria. So I am a true WORRIER not  a WARRIOR :))

Congrats on 5mos, Sherry!  You sound really good.  What ARE you doing so far away from home?

Bosnianworrier--congrats on 5mos to you too...that's awesome!  You know, for the longest time I read your screen name as BosnianWArrior instead of WOrrier.  Ah well, I knew it was you :)

WOW Sherry!
How amazing! What a story those 5 months could tell : )
I think that being around a smoker, especially when it's constant, you DO reaffirm your commitment to your quit..."there but for the grace of God, go I."

Congratulations Sherry : )
