CHANTIX. Withdrawls? Help me please.

I've been a smoker for over 40 years, I'm starting my 3rd week of being a non-smoker. I am currently taking Chantix. I'm sleeping very little(Night sweats, waking up multiple times at night) - Is this a withdrawl symptom? Or is it the Chantix? What's going on?

Hi Bill,
I don't know if you quit or not, but maybe you should speak to your doctor and maybe he can prescribe something to help you relax.

I quit with Chantix, 1 year, 2 weeks and 2 days ago. I had very few side effects and after 38 years of smoking, I am grateful that I was able to quit.

I would recommend that you have a talk with your physician about what is going on. Because Chantix is fairly new, it is important that they document all of the possible side effects. Your complaint is just another in a long list of complaints that people are associating with the drug. A lot of these can and should be researched as the more then 1000 additives that are added to tobacco and what happens when they are absent from our bodies for a period of time.
I hope that you feel better soon.

I don't know Don but I've been a smoker for 40+ years also and after stopping Chantix I started getting night sweats, not able to sleep for more than 4 or 5 hours a night waking up sweating , tired & unable to go back to sleep. this has been gong on for several months now, I am completley exhausted all the time

You are welcome and please check with Chantix about your night sweats though I really think it is a side effect.
You might want to try cutting back to one pill a day and if you feel yourself craving a smoke more often, then perhaps go back to taking that second one.
Remember how important quitting is and don't give up your 3 weeks....you have cleared most of the hurdles and it would be a darned shame to have to start again : )
Keep reminding yourself why you quit and stay strong!!

Well, I'm not having ''scary'' dreams, but my dreams are just plain WEIRD! I am a male, and thank you very much for your response! All I'd like is a good night sleep, which has been going on for about 2 months.

It could be the Chantix or if you are female it could be menopause : )
Seriously though, I think that this may have been a side effect listed. Are you having nigthmares along with the night sweats? Here is a number that you can call:
Call 1-866-706-2400. Ask the person on the other end if it is normal.
My experience with Chantix was pretty good but I stopped taking Chantix after my third quit day. All total, a month and a half, and I didn't look back. It is 4 months today and I had some severe reactions to my quit....2 sinus infections, pneumonia & pleurisy. I have never been sick like that but I am told that it is coincidental and has nothing to do with my quit.....hmm.......
I smoked for 38 years, at least a pack a day, and never ever quit before so I know I will never smoke again and I hope that you won't either.
Congratulations on 3 weeks and keep it up!
