I so sorry to hear that : ( There will always be trials and tribulations but none as profound as the death of our beloved pet(s) : ( I hope you feel better soon : (
I think that you have proven to yourself that you really want this and I congratulate you on your 10 days! Keep it up and good luck!
Well this weekend was a real test. Friday night my beloved house bunny Bugsy passed away. He was a son to me. I blacked out and actually injured myself from crying so hard. But you know what I did not do, smoke! If I can get through this, I am golden!
WooHoo! Congrats! Awsome!
A reward system is a great idea and for every pack of cigs you don't smoke, put it away and save for something special : ) I'm going to Europe in May having saved $5500. already!
As for supportive strangers, well I met plenty and everyone can relate to what I went through, what you are going through and those "atta girls" can mean so much : )
Just remember NEVER let stress get to you, deep breaths and you are in control over this....don't give back that control...you are stronger ; )

I am so grateful for the support kathyjo! Yesterday was really tough. We went to enroll my children in home school and I made it without smoking! We also went to the Yankee Candle Outlet and I got 3 new candles to celebrate being a non smoker. I feel so much better already. I'm not using the gum. Cold turkey is working out pretty well. I feel so good about quitting and the clerk at the candle store told me she quit 5 years ago and gave me a high 5! It is amazing how supportive strangers can be.
Thank You so much kathyjo! I tell you what, I am going crazy sitting here. I work in a very small office, there are only 3 of us. My boss is here and my co worker is on vacation and I am so not busy. I'm thinking non stop about smoking and this site is really helping me so much.
The good news is that the w/d only lasts 3 days so you are nearly finished! Hang in there and try not to use the nic gum as it is still feeding nic into your system.
Many people have similar complaints about the use of NRT so you are not alone...some are more sensitive to it. If you are trying to fight a crave, try walking briskly, exercising, support of a friend or reading some of the articles on whyquit.com The urge only lasts on average 2 minutes so try some breathing exercises to make the time pass.... YOU CAN DO IT! Put your mind to it!
Hang in there...we are here for you!
The mental/emotional addiction is the next step and boy will it play with your mind. What you have to keep telling youself is that you are an EX-SMOKER and that you will never smoke again.....already you are benefiting from your quit...you smell great and in no time you will be able to breathe deeper, walk faster and longer and your face will brighten....gums will pink up, so many little things but very noticeable. You just have to believe in yourself and whenever you think about them, just breathe deep, read an article and say a prayer or whatever you need to do, until it passes, and it will : ) Before you know it, you will be getting less and less until they all but subside.
Hang in there!
